Job summary

Design Works Engineering Ltd in Makati is seeking a motivated Fire Protection Designer to join our growing team. You will design and specify fire protection systems for diverse building projects, ensuring compliance with fire safety codes and client requirements.

The role requires at least 2 years of experience in fire protection design, familiarity with NFPA and codes, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, HydraCAD, and related tools. English proficiency and strong collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with Fire Protection specialization.
• Minimum 2 years designing fire protection systems for commercial or industrial buildings.
• Strong communication and coordination across inter-discipline teams.
• Familiar with NFPA codes and related standards; able to apply to client specs.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, HydraCAD; knowledge of Autosprink is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Design and specification of Fire Protection Systems (fire suppression, fire alarm, smoke management, emergency lighting).
• Prepare engineering drawings and specifications for fire protection systems.
• Review client specifications and ensure requirements are integrated into the design.
• Review shop drawings for conformance with design and standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team members to integrate systems.
• Perform fire risk assessments and modelling, including egress modelling and fire dynamics simulations.

The Position:

Design Works Engineering is seeking a motivated Fire Protection Designer to join our growing team in Makati. This role will play a key part in supporting the continued growth of our Fire Protection team.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to all project phases, ensuring compliance with applicable fire safety codes and standards while adhering to defined scope, timelines, and budget.
• Design and specification of Fire Protection Systems, including but not limited to fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, smoke management systems, and emergency lighting systems.
• Prepare engineering drawings and specificationsfor fire protection systems to ensure detailed and accurate representation of the designed systems.
• Review Client Specificationsto ensure that all fire protection requirements are understood and incorporated into the design.
• Review shop drawings for compliancewith the design and participate in the development of fire protection engineering standards to ensure consistency and high quality in all projects.
• Partner with cross-functional project team membersto integrate fire protection systems with other building systems for a cohesive and efficient design.
• Perform fire risk assessments and modelling,including egress modelling and fire dynamics simulations, to ensure the safety and efficiency of fire protection strategies.

Education & Experience

• An equivalent University Degree or diploma in Fire Protection Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Fire Protection.
• A minimum of 2 years' experience in designing fire protection systems for commercial buildings, low/high-rise buildings, multi-family residential, or industrial buildings.
• Strong communication skills are essential to effectively coordinate with inter-discipline teams, ensuring high-value engineering outcomes across projects.
• Knowledge and familiarity with fire protection industry codes and standards, including NFPA, national and provincial codes, and the ability to apply these in conjunction with client specifications for detailed fire protection system design.
• Proficiency in software tools relevant to fire protection engineering, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and HydraCAD.
• Experience with Autosprink is considered an asset.
• Fluency in Englishis required for clear and effective communication across all levels of project involvement.
