Fabtech Export Industries, Inc. is seeking a Finisher/Painter to prepare, finish, and apply protective coatings to steel walkway components, ensuring appearance, coating quality, and durability. The role requires coordination with Production and QA/QC to meet quality standards and project specifications.

Work involves painting, surface preparation, and proper handling of paints and equipment. Overtime or shift work may be required, and safety procedures with PPE must be followed.

Qualifications

• Senior high school or technical certificate related to painting/fabrication.
• Experience in industrial painting or metal fabrication preferred.
• Ability to read basic engineering drawings and work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare steel surfaces by cleaning, sanding, grinding, or removing rust and contaminants.
• Apply primer, paint, or protective coatings per specifications and work instructions.
• Perform touch-up painting and finish fabrication components as required.
• Inspect painted surfaces for defects like runs, pinholes, or uneven coating.

About the role

The Finisher/Painter is responsible for preparing, finishing, and applying protective coatings or paint to steel walkway components in accordance with project specifications and quality standards. The role ensures that finished products meet the required appearance, coating quality, and durability prior to inspection, delivery, and installation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare steel surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, grinding, or removing rust, oil, and other contaminants
• Apply primer, paint, or protective coatings according to project specifications and work instructions
• Perform touch-up painting and finishing of fabricated steel components as required
• Inspect painted and finished surfaces for defects such as runs, pinholes, uneven coating, or insufficient coverage
• Operate and maintain painting equipment and hand tools safely and efficiently
• Ensure proper mixing and handling of paints, coatings, and related materials
• Coordinate with Production and QA/QC to ensure finished products meet quality requirements
• Maintain cleanliness of the painting area and ensure proper storage of painting materials and equipment
• Follow company safety procedures and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE)

About you

• At least a Senior High School graduate, vocational graduate, or graduate of a technical course related to painting, fabrication, or industrial technology
• Experience in industrial painting, steel finishing, or metal fabrication is preferred
• Knowledge of surface preparation, painting techniques, and protective coating applications is an advantage
• Familiarity with painting equipment such as spray guns, air compressors, and hand tools is an advantage
• Ability to read basic engineering drawings and work instructions is an advantage
• Physically fit and willing to work in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
• Detail-oriented with good workmanship and a strong commitment to quality
• Willing to work on-site and render overtime or work on shifting schedules when required
