Job summary

Smartsourcing is hiring a Finance Generalist to own the transactional finance cycle, including sales journal, AP/AR, and reconciliations, on-site in Cebu City. You will document workflows and establish best practices as the offshore function develops.

Ideal candidates have 1–5 years in accounting, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with BAS and statutory requirements. This role offers growth within a growing onshore team and a dynamic workplace.

Qualifications

1-5 years of experience in an accounting role covering transactional finance.
Experience supporting a small business is highly desirable.
Proficient with MS Excel; Xero experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Manage daily sales journal process and balance sheet accounts.
Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards; maintain fixed assets register.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable; assist BAS and statutory returns.
Coordinate with onshore finance team, suppliers, and customers on invoicing and payments.
Identify process improvements and document finance workflows.

Hi! We're Smartsourcing, and we're hiring a full-time, onsite Finance Generalist to own the transactional finance cycle for an onshore Finance team — and help build best practice from the ground up as our first offshore hire on the account.

About the Role

As a Finance Generalist, you'll take ownership of the transactional cycle across Accounts and Accounting — managing the daily sales journal, weekly accounts payable and receivable, and the reconciliation of all bank and credit card accounts, alongside balance sheet reconciliations, the fixed assets register, and BAS support. As the first offshore role on the account, you'll also establish best practice, document and standardise finance workflows, and help grow the team here over time. It's a role for someone analytical and detail-driven who can carry work through to completion with minimal supervision — and who's confident enough to speak up, share ideas, and take on more as the offshore function develops.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the daily sales journal process
Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts
Maintain the fixed assets register
Assist in preparing statutory returns, including BAS

Accounts Payable

Manage and review weekly supplier statement reconciliations
Process accounts payable invoices, including preparation of ABA files, BPAY, and transfers
Ensure all invoices and payments are processed accurately and on time
Help manage the Accounts inbox

Accounts Receivable

Assist with weekly customer invoicing
Follow up invoice disputes and approvals for wholesale customers

Bank & Credit Card Reconciliation

Complete weekly reconciliation of all bank accounts, including company credit cards
Resolve reconciling items within agreed timelines

Process Improvement & Documentation

Learn and understand the team's processes
Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities
Help document and standardise finance workflows

Stakeholder Coordination & Communication

Coordinate with the onshore Finance team, suppliers, and customers on invoicing, payments, reconciliations, and finance queries
Escalate issues appropriately and in a timely manner

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Readiness and Digital Enablement

Maintain baseline AI literacy and use approved AI tools responsibly, in line with company policies, data privacy, information security, and client confidentiality obligations
Apply sound judgment by validating outputs and avoiding overreliance, ensuring accuracy and accountability in all work delivered
Participate in AI readiness trainings and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement through automation and responsible AI integration

What You'll Need to Succeed

Experience

1-5 years of experience in an accounting role covering transactional finance — sales journals, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations
Experience supporting a small business is highly desirable

Skills & Behaviours

Strong analytical capability and high attention to detail
Able to carry tasks through to completion with minimal supervision
Excellent written and verbal communication; confident speaking up and sharing ideas
Awareness of AP/AR controls, statutory return requirements (including BAS), document handling standards, client confidentiality, and data privacy obligations

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field preferred
A relevant accounting or bookkeeping qualification is advantageous

Tools

MS Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite — proficient
Open to any accounting system; Xero experience advantageous
