Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries for general ledger close.
• Review and process accounts payable invoices and expense reports.
• Assist in maintaining general ledger account balances in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare accurate monthly financial reports and reconcile accounts.
• Complete routine accounting assignments and assist with month-end close.

Job Description

We are looking for an energetic, well‑versed Staff Accountant who is looking for an opportunity to join a well‑funded insurance "start‑up" that will be writing both admitted and non‑admitted business in 50 states. You would join an incredibly talented and experienced operating team and be instrumental in growing our business and appropriately rewarded.

• Preparing journal entries for monthly general ledger close
• Reviewing and processing AP invoices and expense reports
• Responsible for assisting in maintaining general ledger account balances, in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Assist in preparing accurate monthly financial reports. Reconciles and validates organization’s general ledger accounts.
• Completes routine accounting assignments.
• Reviews and analyzes financial statement accounts for accuracy, budget variance and unusual trends
• Maintains fixed asset and prepaid accounts.
• Ensures that comprehensive accounting records are maintained in an organized manner.
• Posts journal entries and prepares analysis schedules.
• Assists with month‑end close processes.
• Special projects and any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 2-5 years accounting experience, insurance industry experience a plus
• Able to work independently through projects assigned
