Job summary

The Field Engineer is responsible for planning, installing, testing, commissioning, and maintaining solar PV systems and EV charging stations. This role ensures safety, quality, and regulatory compliance while coordinating with stakeholders across the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years in engineering or renewable energy, strong AutoCAD skills, and a willingness to travel for site visits and installation activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • Licensed Electrical Engineer (REE) is preferred.
  • 3–5 years experience in engineering, construction, EPC, renewable energy or related industries.
  • Experience with solar PV and/or EV charging infrastructure is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and electrical drawings (SLDs).
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan site assessments and develop solar system designs and project execution plans.
  • Lead installation of solar PV systems and EV charging stations; coordinate with stakeholders.
  • Perform testing, commissioning, and handover with clients; provide training.
  • Conduct site inspections, QA checks, and on-site troubleshooting.
  • Maintain project records, installation reports and commissioning docs.

Job description

The Field Engineer

The Field Engineer is responsible for the planning, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. This role ensures projects are executed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with engineering standards, quality requirements, and regulatory compliance. The position requires a hands‑on professional who can effectively manage site activities, coordinate with various stakeholders, and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Site Assessment
  • Conduct site surveys and technical assessments to evaluate project requirements and site conditions.
  • Develop solar system designs, installation methodologies, and project execution plans based on customer energy requirements and site specifications.
  • Prepare and review engineering documentation, including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), electrical layouts, and shop drawings.
Installation & Project Execution
  • Lead and supervise the installation of solar PV systems, including grid‑tied, hybrid, and off‑grid solutions, as well as EV charging stations.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Monitor project schedules, resources, and site activities to ensure timely completion within budget and quality standards.
  • Ensure all installation work complies with applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and engineering standards.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
  • Conduct testing, commissioning, and performance verification of installed systems.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues during installation and commissioning.
  • Prepare handover documentation and provide operational training to clients and end‑users.
  • Ensure systems are fully operational and meet performance expectations prior to project turnover.
Quality Assurance & Technical Support
  • Perform site inspections and quality checks throughout project execution.
  • Provide onsite troubleshooting and technical support during and after installation.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate project records, installation reports, and commissioning documentation.
Inventory & Coordination
  • Assist in monitoring and managing project materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, sales, and technical support teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to installation processes and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Preferably a Licensed Electrical Engineer (REE) or equivalent professional certification.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in engineering, construction, EPC, renewable energy, or related industries.
  • Experience in solar PV systems and/or EV charging infrastructure is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and preparation of electrical drawings, including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs).
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Willing to travel extensively and conduct regular field visits across project locations.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License; ownership of a personal vehicle is highly preferred.
