Job summary

Adec-Innovations is seeking a software development professional in the Philippines to design and deliver quality modules, tools, and applications supporting operations. You will work under the ETL Manager and apply intermediate programming skills with relational databases.

Responsibilities include gathering requirements, creating prototypes, partnering with DBAs, and performing unit tests. You will provide end-user training during launch and contribute to documentation and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT/CS or related field.
• 5+ years in IT or software development.
• Knowledge of MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in Java, PHP, .NET, C/C++.
• Understanding HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript.

Responsibilities

• Gather requirements and define module specifications.
• Develop modules/tools with QA and UAT in mind.
• Create wireframes or mock-ups as needed.
• Collaborate with DBAs to connect to databases.
• Research tools to improve performance and code quality.
• Develop and test modules using prescribed tools.
• Run unit tests and resolve issues from testing.
• Provide demos and end-user training at launch.
• Document and assist in documentation; mentor peers.

Role/Position Summary:

Underthe supervision of the ETL Manager, this role is responsible fordeveloping and delivering quality modules, tools and applications tosupport operations. This requires intermediateprogramming skills and understanding of relational databases.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Gathersthe requirements and specifications of the assigned module, tool, orapplication.
2. Assessesthe simplicity/complexity of the requirement, and works with the ETLmanager to come up with the development schedule – development,QA, user acceptance test and release.
3. Createswireframe, storyboard, prototype, or mock-up if and when necessary.
4. Collaborateswith DBAs if there is a need to connect to one or more databases.
5. Researchesfor and evaluates software or hardware that may simplify the code orimprove the performance.
6. Developsthe assigned module, tool, or application using any or a combinationof prescribed development software.
7. Runsunit test – manual or script-driven, prior to endorsing forquality check/assurance.
8. Commitssource code to the prescribed code repository.
9. Edits,compiles, de-bugs and re-compiles/re-builds the code every afterunit testing or regression testing.
10. Providesdemo to end-users as a form of user acceptance.
11. Providesend-user training during launch.
12. Providestechnical assistance; responds to inquiries/questions or addresserrors/problems encountered by end-users.
13. Performsroot-cause analysis for bugs, and provides appropriate fix.
14. Facilitatesor assists in the documentation.
15. Adheresto programming and development standards – industry andcompany-prescribed.
16. Performsdemo or code walkthrough – during quality check or duringcoaching, training or mentoring another member of the developmentteam.
17. Usesprescribed workflow monitoring tool and document management systems,such as but not limited to, Kanban Board, Alfresco, EDMS, and anyother similar systems.
18. Leadsor participates to focus group sessions after every launch orrelease to exchange ideas among the development team and within thedepartment.
19. Reportssecurity incidents and/or any identified security weaknesses.
20. Performsother tasks that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor'sDegree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or other relatedcourses
• Atleast five (5) years of relevant experience in InformationTechnology or software development
• Intermediateknowledge of any of the following Relational Database systems:MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL
• Intermediateknowledge of any of the following programming languages: Java, Php,.Net technologies, C/C++
• Understandingof any of the following web design concepts: HTML, XHTML, CSS,Javascript
• Generalunderstanding of routine maintenance, recovery, and handlingfailover of a database
