Job summary

Asian Development Bank seeks an Investment Specialist to lead a deal team and build a best-in-class equity asset and portfolio management function. The role requires strong origination, due-diligence, and negotiation capabilities, with travel to developing member countries.

You will manage relationships, monitor financial health, and ensure ESG safeguards while contributing to governance and development impact across equity investments.

Qualifications

• University degree in business administration, finance, or related fields; preferably at post-graduate level or its equivalent.
• At least 6 years of experience with the private sector in Origination, Processing and Portfolio management covering equity, capital markets and financial structuring.
• International experience working in several emerging markets with understanding and appreciation of equity markets and products.
• Structuring and financing capabilities. Experience in financial modeling, risk management and advanced valuation analysis.
• Expected to lead negotiations with portfolio companies, shareholders, sponsors and existing/new investors.
• Experience leading diverse team.
• Frequent travel to developing member countries (DMCs).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, in particular ability in business writing.

Responsibilities

• Originate equity investments and manage the due-diligence process.
• Provide advice on direct equity structuring, valuation, and bidding strategy to the deal team.
• Assume primary relationship responsibility for assigned accounts and oversee monitoring of financial health and development impact.
• Review waivers, amendments, ratings, quarterly valuation, and exit proposals; act as nominee director when needed.
• Lead portfolio strategy development and introduce international best practices in governance, risk, and internal controls.
• Develop relationships with financial intermediaries and report on market and investment trends.
• Oversee staff performance, directions, and learning and development goals.
