Job summary

PwC Philippines is seeking a senior environmental and social safeguards leader to guide ESG programs and client projects. You will direct ESIA/EIA work, risk assessments, and due diligence while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams across infrastructure, energy and development initiatives.

You will shape ESMPs, stakeholder engagement, and grievance mechanisms, translating complex policies into actionable guidance for clients and ensuring alignment with IFC, ADB, and other international

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of relevant work experience in environmental and social safeguards or related fields.
• Experience managing or providing technical leadership on projects for private sector or IFI-financed initiatives.
• Experience with Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs/EIA) and Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD).
• Proven ability to design and implement Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs).
• Ability to design and execute stakeholder engagement strategies, including grievance mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Lead ES risk assessment work across infrastructure, energy, and development sectors.
• Provide technical leadership and advisory services to multidisciplinary teams.
• Translate complex regulatory requirements into practical client recommendations.
• Contribute to feasibility studies with ES considerations and climate risk assessments.

Job description

• Master's degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Social Sciences, International Development or a related discipline.
• Additional certifications (e.g., ISO 14001 or EIA-related accreditations, social safeguards training) are an advantage.

Professional Experience

• At least 10 years of relevant work experience environmental and social safeguards or related field/s across infrastructure, energy, financial, or development sectors.
• Demonstrated experience in managing or providing technical leadership on projects for private sector or IFI-financed initiatives, including
• Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs/EIA)
• Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD)
• Preparation and implementation of Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) and corrective action plans
• Designing and executing stakeholder engagement strategies, community consultation processes, grievance redress mechanisms, and social risk Stakeholder engagement, grievance redress, and social risk mitigation plans
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams

Technical and Sectoral Expertise

• Sectoral experience on E&S risks across infrastructure (transport, urban development, water), energy (renewables, energy transition, just transition), industrial development, and natural resources will be highly valued.
• Ability to interpret complex regulatory and policy requirements related to environmental protection, climate change, and social inclusion, and translate these into practical actionable recommendations for clients.
• Experience contributing to feasibility studies incorporating E&S considerations, climate risk and adaptation assessments, just transition planning and strategic market/sector studies that shape sustainability or decarbonization roadmaps.
• Ability to apply environmental and social considerations within broader ESG and sustainability strategies, ideally to provide strategic advisory on ESG risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and alignment with sustainability frameworks.
• Familiarity with integrating IFC Performance Standards and ADB Environmental and Social Framework, and other international financial institution (AFI) E&S safeguards with broader ESG and sustainability strategies.
