CDO Foodsphere, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead all Engineering functions, drive projects, and ensure on-time delivery to the highest quality standards. You will provide clear leadership, mentor staff, and align engineering activities with business strategies.
You will oversee budgeting, TPM and maintenance, coordinate with production, QA and R&D, and foster continuous improvement through LEAN, IoT, and HOME/SEAO frameworks.
About the role
The Engineering Manager is responsible for all areas of the Engineering functions to meet customer's expectations, managing teams and executing projects across the business. Provide clear leadership and vision, inspire and motivate staff to achieve excellence and mentor them as they develop new skills. Drive Key Performance Indicators across all areas of the Engineering function to ensure that all utility operations, equipment and building repairs and maintenance, projects are delivered on cost and on time to the highest quality standards. Ensure regulatory compliance and issues prioritized and facilitate direct implementation of business strategies. Drive continuous improvement across all engineering related areas of the business
Key responsibilities
a. Strategic Leadership and Governance
Discuss and share the Future of the company/Future of EMD and the Picture of Success to the organization he leads.
Attends, participates and contributes to the development of Division (PO-SCM) masterplan, ensuring department actions and measures are aligned with the visions, plans and direction outlined by the organization to support the overall business plans and targets.
Prepare the annual Engineering budget: spending, depreciation forecasts and all capital expenditure proposals that support customer needs and regulatory requirements.
Manage the department budget spending, analyzing variances, developing, and executing actions to ensure spending targets are complied.
Manage interface across functions and escalation with upper management on issues and matters that require critical decisions and resources beyond the delegated authority.
Closely collaborates and coordinates with inter departments especially production, QA and R&D.
Identify savings opportunities, looking at all possible sources of losses to improve on operational efficiencies/utilization, and productivity among others.
b. Equipment and Maintenance Strategy
Drives total productive maintenance (TPM) strategies to maximize overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and prevent unplanned downtime.
Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities. Analyze technology, resource needs, and investment/capital needed, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
Evaluates and justifies capital expenditures for new machinery, major repairs, facilities and process improvements and robotic automations.
c. Team Leadership and Talent Development
Develop and empower direct reports; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of their competence.
Coaches technical teams, bridging traditional engineering with modern manufacturing philosophies such as LEAN, Sustainability, Internet of Things (IoT), etc. Drives cultural transformation by embedding the CDO Harmonized Ownership and Maintenance Engagement (HOME)/SEAO framework into daily operations.
Develops and Aligns engineering expertise with high-priority production constraints.
Identify and help his people to build deep and strong expertise (SMEs) on equipment, systems and key electro-mechanical technologies i.e Wastewater, Refrigeration system, Boiler, Instrumentation and controls, among others.
Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department. Ensures adherence to established company policies and procedures.
d. Administrative Functions
Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services. Ensures that all spending requests follow thorough assessment of needs and complied with work processes.
Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to management. Align course of actions, solicit support for projects before execution.
Ensures compliance to government regulations regarding safety and environment, working with internal resources and external regulatory agencies to meet and manage requirements.
e. Budgeting and Financial Management
Lead the preparation, forecasting, and presentation of annual Engineering and Maintenance operating and capital budget
Ensure effective cost control and adherence to approved budgets while maintaining operational reliability.
f. Leadership and Coaching
Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for Engineering and Maintenance group. Ensures adherence to established company policies and procedures.
Align the team’s direction and strategies with the company’s overall business goal.
Manage interfaces across functions and escalate issues and matters that require critical decisions and resources beyond delegated authority to upper management.
Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team, building a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Mentor and guide team members, providing regular feedback and support to help each team member grow professionally.
Develop career paths and facilitate knowledge sharing.
Graduate of any Engineering course, preferably with related Masters’ Degree
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in engineering management role
With proven track record in delivering effective engineering strategies, policies, processes and systems
Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements
Proven project management experience
Experience of operating and influencing at a strategic level
Knowledge and technical understanding of engineering works and processes
Strong leadership, communication, training, and stakeholder management skills
Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills; capable of engaging with senior management and the board.
Strategic and Systems Thinking
Sufficient experience managing a big and complex engineering organization, local or abroad
