Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Security Engineer, Email Security to design, implement, and govern enterprise email security across the global health technology stack. You will lead POC/POV initiatives, maintain platform integrations, and drive automation using AI and scripting to safeguard communications.

The role focuses on platform architecture, secure baselines, and technology strategy, with responsibility for CrowdStrike and Defender for Endpoint implementations and ongoing threat

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of equivalent information security or software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and administering enterprise email security technologies
• 3+ years of experience establishing engineering standards, secure configuration baselines, technical documentation, or hardening guides
• 3+ years of experience with e-mail authentication protocols (DMARC, DKIM, SPF) and advanced e-mail protection capabilities
• 2+ years of information security engineering, security operations, or cyber defense engineering
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise security tools and platforms including SIEM, XDR, or XEM
• Knowledge of security frameworks NIST, CIS controls, MITRE ATT&CK

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and resilient enterprise email security architectures and platform infrastructure
• Establish engineering standards, secure configuration baselines, and architecture documentation
• Lead evaluations and POV/POC initiatives for emerging email security capabilities and tools
• Monitor configuration drift and ensure alignment with security baselines and governance
• Use AI tools and scripting to automate workflows and enhance security operations
• Contribute to multi-year roadmaps and security initiatives
• Administer CrowdStrike and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint for assigned clients
• Perform daily endpoint security checks and ensure policy compliance
• Manage EDR policies, exclusions, and false positives
• Create dashboards and reports for endpoint compliance and EDR metrics
