Description

The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for designing and optimizing electrical systems for utility-scale and commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants.

• Design DC systems including PV module stringing, combiner boxes, and DC cabling
• Design AC systems including inverters, transformers, MV/LV switchgear, and power distribution
• Prepare electrical layouts, single-line diagrams (SLD), wiring diagrams, and grounding layouts
• Perform electrical calculations: DC/AC sizing, Cable sizing and voltage drop, Short-circuit and protection coordination, Earthing/grounding design
• Select and specify electrical equipment (inverters, transformers, panels, breakers, cables)
• Design grid interconnection and coordinate with utilities
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, NEC, local grid codes, and safety standards
• Use software tools such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, ETAP, etc..
• Support permitting, approvals, and technical documentation
• Coordinate with civil and structural teams
• Assist during construction, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting
• Review EPC contractor drawings and as-built documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Must be a Professional Electrical Engineer (PEE) and Registered Electrical Engineer (REE)
• At least 5 years experience in solar power plant or substation projects (preferred)
• With NGCP design experience
• Proficient with CAD and electrical design software
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards, load calculations, and power distributions systems
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
