Job summary

Cactus Communications is hiring Editorial Project Managers on a contract basis with subject-matter expertise in biomedical sciences. You will screen submissions, verify titles, authors, COI statements, abstracts, and references to ensure journal guideline compliance.

Responsibilities include coordinating with authors for revisions, supporting daily operations within defined turnaround times, and reporting quality issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Publishing, Life Sciences, Medicine, or Psychology.
• Familiarity with ethical publication standards and best practices.
• High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience using manuscript submission and tracking systems (preferred).
• Experience in academic publishing, journal editorial processes, or manuscript quality control (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Screen submissions (~250-280/month) against checks: verify manuscript title accuracy and consistency with journal guidelines.
• Cross-check author names, affiliations, and COI statements for completeness and accuracy.
• Review abstracts and manuscript structure for formatting and submission requirements.
• Validate references for formatting, relevance, and completeness.
• Ensure ethical guidelines are met, including plagiarism and data integrity checks.
• Check the accuracy and formatting of figures, tables, and supplementary materials.
• Coordinate with authors for revisions and withdrawals as needed.
• Support day-to-day operations within expected TAT and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Document and report quality issues found during the review process.
