Job summary

About the role

COMMSEC INC. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Drive Test Engineer to join our Electrical/Electronic Engineering team in Bicol Region. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and performance of our telecommunications infrastructure. As a Drive Test Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive field testing of network performance, collecting critical data, and providing actionable insights that drive network optimisation and service quality improvements. This role is essential to our commitment to delivering reliable and high-performance communication services to our customers.

Key responsibilities

1. Conduct drive tests and field measurements to assess network performance, signal strength, and coverage across assigned geographical areas
2. Operate and maintain drive test equipment, tools, and software platforms used for data collection and analysis
3. Collect, analyse, and document network performance data including signal quality, latency, throughput, and handover performance
4. Identify network issues, anomalies, and areas of poor coverage requiring optimisation
5. Prepare comprehensive technical reports detailing test results, findings, and recommendations for network improvement
6. Collaborate with network planning and optimisation teams to support ongoing network enhancement initiatives
7. Perform post-implementation testing to validate the effectiveness of network changes and optimisations
8. Ensure compliance with safety standards and company protocols during all field testing activities
9. Maintain accurate records of testing locations, routes, and results for future reference and analysis

What we're looking for

1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field
2. Proven experience as a Drive Test Engineer or similar field testing role within the telecommunications or mobile networks industry

4. Strong proficiency in drive test tools and software such as Nemo, Tems, Mapinfo, or equivalent platforms
5. Solid understanding of mobile network architectures, including 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, and 5G technologies
6. Knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIs) and network quality metrics relevant to telecommunications
7. Proficiency in using GPS technology and geographic information systems (GIS)
8. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to technical detail
9. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional language proficiency is advantageous
10. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively during field assignments
11. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various locations for field testing
12. Experience with signal analysis, spectrum monitoring, or radio frequency (RF) testing is preferred
13. Familiarity with network optimisation principles and best practices is desirable
