Job summary

Y Suzuki Nihongo Learning Center Inc. is seeking a Dormitory Caretaker (Utility & Maintenance) to ensure clean, safe, and functional dormitory facilities.

You will handle regular cleaning, minor repairs, and basic utility upkeep to create a comfortable living environment for residents. The role requires basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical work, physical fitness for manual tasks, reliability, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience in utility work, maintenance, or caretaking is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical work.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks.
• Trustworthy, responsible, and detail-oriented.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of dormitory common areas, hallways, restrooms, and surrounding areas.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical fixtures, doors, windows and etc.
• Monitor facilities and promptly report major maintenance issues to management.
• Ensure proper use and upkeep of utilities such as water, electricity, and waste disposal systems.
• Conduct regular inspections of rooms and dormitory facilities.
• Assist in preparing rooms for new occupants, including cleaning and basic setup.
• Enforce dormitory rules and help maintain order within the premises.
• Respond promptly to maintenance- or utility-related concerns of occupants.
• Maintain and monitor inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
