Job summary

Sun Life Financial in the Philippines is seeking a Disability Case Specialist to adjudicate disability eligibility for short- and long-term benefits. You will gather and review medical, contractual and occupational data, coordinate interventions, and work with employers, lawyers and health professionals to support employee recovery and return to work.

Role requires nursing or allied medical degree, 2+ years of disability case management and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Degree in Nursing or allied medical courses.
• At least 2 years related experience in disability case management.
• Strong BPO Healthcare experience.
• Proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications.
• Ability to multi-task including handling multiple products and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Adjudicate disability for eligibility of short and long-term benefits by reviewing contractual, medical, functional, and occupational information.
• Coordinate interventions including IMEs, FCEs, ergonomic assessments and medical opinions.
• Collaborate with insured employees, clients, lawyers, healthcare practitioners and stakeholders to obtain information and communicate decisions.
• Conduct telephone interviews to develop and maintain case management plans for return to work.
• Assess medical and non-medical factors, functional capability, restrictions and limitations.
• Build relationships with clients and employees and participate in client meetings.

Job Description

What will you do

• Adjudicate disability for eligibility of short and long-term benefits. This includes reviewing and analyzing contractual, medical, functional and occupational information
• Coordinate appropriate interventions including, but not limited to: Independent Medical Evaluations, Functional Capacity Evaluations, Ergonomic assessments, Medical Consultant Opinions, Rehabilitation Consultant resources, and Consulting Mental Health Experts
• Work collaboratively with insured employees, clients, lawyers, health care practitioners and other stakeholders to obtain information, provide claim status, create action plans and communicate verbal and written decisions while maintaining confidentiality and privacy
• Conduct telephone interviews to obtain information to develop and maintain outcome-focused case management plans to support employees in their recovery and return to work
• Identify and assess medical and non-medical influencing factors, functional capability, restrictions and limitations
• Build strong relationships with our clients: employers and their employees
• Participate in face to face (virtual) client meetings
• Engage in continuous learning about disability practices and tools

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Nursing or any allied medical courses
• At least 2 years related experience in disability case management
• Strong BPO Healthcare experience
• Proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to navigate and learn new and complex computer system applications
• Ability to multi-task including the ability to understand multiple products and multiple levels of benefits within each product
