Job summary

Glass Lewis is seeking a Director, Stewardship to lead our Manila-based ESG research and engagement team. You will shape strategic direction, manage day-to-day operations, and coordinate with global colleagues to deliver high‑quality stewardship services for institutional investors.

Ideal candidates will bring 10+ years in ESG, with at least 5 years in management, and demonstrate strong leadership, client-facing experience, and the ability to execute complex projects across time zones.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in ESG research, stewardship or related field, including 5+ years in a managerial role.
  • Experience leading large or rapidly growing teams in a multinational setting.
  • Strong ESG knowledge across climate, natural capital, human rights, governance.
  • Experience in client-facing roles, understanding institutional investor needs and standards.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain talent and coordinate cross‑regional work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to convey complex ESG topics clearly.

  • Oversee production of high‑quality ESG research and engagement outputs.
  • Coordinate investor-led engagements on material ESG issues across regions.
  • Collaborate with North America, Europe, and APAC teams for consistency and integration.

  • Oversee local resource planning, recruitment, onboarding, and performance reviews.
  • Contribute to evolving research methods and internal systems.

Position Description

The Glass Lewis's Stewardship team assists institutional investors to enhance their engagement programs. Our Stewardship Solutions are designed to accommodate a range of needs, from a SaaS‑based issuer engagement tracking and reporting platform to a fully custom service that leverages our Stewardship team to perform and manage engagement campaigns on behalf of institutional investor clients.

As Director, Stewardship, you will lead our growing team in Manila, supporting the delivery of high‑quality ESG research and our institutional investor clients’ engagement activities. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the team’s strategic direction, managing day‑to‑day operations, and ensuring alignment with our diverse global client base. This role involves significant leadership, research oversight, and cross‑regional coordination, and is ideal for a dynamic professional with experience managing large teams, deep ESG knowledge, and experience in a client‑oriented environment.

Qualifications
  • Significant experience in ESG research, stewardship, responsible investment, or a related field (minimum of 10 years' experience; 5 years in a manager role)
  • Proven experience managing large or rapidly growing teams, ideally within a multinational organisation
  • Strong ESG thematic knowledge across areas such as climate, natural capital, human rights, and corporate governance
  • Experience in a client-facing or client-servicing role, with an understanding of institutional investor needs and standards
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and retain talent
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ESG issues clearly
  • Ability to work effectively across time zones and within global teams
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver complex projects

  • Process improvement: Contribute to the evolution of research methods, internal systems, and thematic priorities, reflecting both market developments and client expectations.
