Job summary

Avvoka in Manila is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to own reliability, performance, and scalability of the platform across Linux, KVM/QEMU, and cloud environments. You’ll build automation, pipelines, and tooling that enable fast deployments without sacrificing stability.

This hands-on, high-trust role helps stand up Avvoka's Manila engineering function from the ground up, with opportunities to automate and scale systems for global demand.

Qualifications

• Fluent Bash scripting with real scripts.
• Thorough Git usage: branching, merging, rebasing, resolving conflicts.
• Programming ability to build tooling or microservices (Bash, Ruby, Python, Go or C#).
• Deep understanding of CI/CD, pipelines, runners, artifacts, caching, design and debug.
• GitLab CI experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, provision, and maintain infrastructure across Linux, KVM/QEMU, and cloud environments using IaC and image-building tooling.
• Build and own CI/CD pipelines in GitLab to make deployments fast and safe.
• Write automation in Bash and a second language (Ruby/Python/Go/C#).
• Keep Avvoka's platform highly available and performant; tune networking and capacity as demand grows.
• Manage virtualization with Ansible and Packer to deliver reproducible environments.
• Monitor, troubleshoot production issues and design out root causes to prevent recurrence.
• Establish reliability practices and runbooks for Manila team; collaborate with developers on observability.
