Job summary

Amex GBT in Manila is seeking a Development Manager to lead a dedicated software team and drive delivery aligned with business goals. You will collaborate with Product Managers, security, and external partners to shape and implement scalable Java-based solutions.

You will oversee agile processes, mentor developers, define performance metrics, and ensure timely delivery of product features while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships across the Travel technology ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of development management experience in a Java environment.
• Experience managing agile lifecycles and projects.
• Familiarity with scalable system architectures.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Knowledge of automated and manual testing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development team for a vertical within the team.
• Support delivery and lifecycle of technology aligned with business goals and customer needs.
• Collaborate with business unit customers, Product Managers, security & risk management, external clients and vendors to deliver product functionalities.
• Project manage product development, SLAs, and client needs.
• Coordinate with Product, engineering and vendor teams to size product needs and lead development and delivery.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical process documentation.
• Maintain relationships with stakeholders, vendors and support teams to ensure strong product support.
• Define and supervise performance metrics for products.
• Work in an Agile environment and support the developers on the team.

What You'll Do

• Lead the development team for one of the vertical in the team
• Support the delivery and lifecycle of technology and ensure alignment with business goals and customer needs
• Partner with business unit customers, Product Managers and support staff, Security & Risk management, external clients and vendors to deliver the functionalities of the specific product area assigned to you
• Project manage the development of products, business centric SLAs and support client needs
• Coordinate with Product, engineering, and vendor teams to size product needs and lead development and deliver product
• Create and maintain comprehensive Technical process documentation
• Maintain strong relationship with stakeholders, vendors, and operational support teams to ensure products receive excellent support as needed, to resolve product lead issues
• Define and supervise performance metrics for products
• Work in an Agile Environment and support the developers assigned in your team

What We're Looking For

• 5 to 10 years of development management in a Java environment with coding experience in Java
• Demonstrated experience in agile lifecycle management and project management
• Familiarity with technical architecture of scalable systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Understanding of both automated and manual testing techniques
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ambitious environment
• Strong understanding of the travel distribution systems (GDS, Amadeus, Travelport) is a plus
