Job summary

Globe is seeking an experienced Design Manager- Electrical to lead the design development for data center electrical systems. You will ensure alignment with STT GDC standards, drive issue resolution, and provide on-site design guidance from development through execution.

You will coordinate between electrical stakeholders, support procurement, and lead design reviews to drive continuous improvement in data center electrical designs across projects.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Electrical Engineering/ ECE, with experience in Data Center electrical systems design, local and international standards.
• Familiar with STT GDC design standards and data center practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage Design Development, coordinating between design stakeholders.
• Review Electrical design during development for alignment with STT GDC standards.
• Provide design support during Procurement for vendors and contractors.
• Drive design management during execution and address design issues and change requests promptly.
• Ensure execution aligns with design documents and provide insight on design issues.
• Lead design reviews to improve Electrical systems.

Job Description

Reporting to the Design Team Lead, the Design Manager- Electrical shall be the Subject Matter Expert for Electrical systems in a Data Center Design & Construction project. They are responsible for managing the Design Development stage to ensure alignment with STTGDC and other relevant industry standards within the project timeline, while providing insights on the Electrical design documents. They act as the bridge from Design Development to Execution, ensuring that STTGDC Design Standards are properly executed on-site. They are tasked with driving resolution to Design Issues and Design Change Requests during Construction, ensuring continuous Design support during Construction. They shall continuously drive Design improvement, tracking lessons learned in a project due to Design issues, and presenting changes to future projects

• In charge of managing Design Development, ensuring proper planning and coordination between different Design stakeholders
• In charge of reviewing Electrical design during development, ensuring alignment with STT GDC standards
• Provide design support during Procurement for vendors and contractors
• Drive design management during execution, ensuring design issues and change requests are addressed and resolved swiftly
• Ensure execution aligns with design documents, and provide insight on design issues
• Lead design reviews to address improvement on Electrical systems

Professional Background and Experience

• Graduate of Electrical Engineering/ ECE, with experience in Data Center electrical systems design, local and international standards

Knowledge Skills:

• Data Center Electrical Systems design (HV/MV systems, LV distribution, Gensets, Grounding and Lightning Protection Systems)
• Knowledge in using design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP)
• Strong Foundation with Data Center standards, both locally and internationally
• Awareness on future Data Center Electrical design trends (i.e. DC distribution for next-gen AI loads)
• Working with other trades to determine BIM clashes and or inter-trade coordination

Competencies

• Technical Competencies
  • Data Center Electrical Topologies (N+1, Catcher Systems, Ring Network, etc.)
  • Electrical Protection standards (Coordination Studies, Short Circuit Analysis)
  • Grounding and Lightning Protection System design
  • Able to interpret load studies, coordination studies, electrical SLDs, short circuit coordination studies etc.

Non-Technical Competencies

• Project Management skills to drive Design Development to completion within schedule
• Drive to execute projects within STT GDC design standards
• Organizing and Managing consultants to complete Design Development and Issue Resolution/Change Evaluation within the required timeframe
• Critical Thinking and Problem solving skills to provide insight and direction to resolving execution issues
• Managing different Electrical specialty vendors to ensure compliance to project specifications during Design, Procurement and Execution
