Job summary

Author Solutions Philippines Inc. in Cebu seeks a Design Consultant to showcase exceptional visual design skills and serve as the author's primary contact during the publishing process. You will create layouts, ensure print-ready PDFs, and adapt templates to meet project specifications.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in multimedia or fine arts, at least two years of graphic design experience, and strong English communication. On-site graveyard shift at Cebu IT Park is required.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in multimedia, advertising, or fine arts, or its equivalent.
• At least two years of graphic design experience with a strong portfolio; client relations experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, PageMaker, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong understanding of layout design, typography, and print production needs.
• Excellent English communication, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Create original layouts in Adobe InDesign based on authors' specifications.
• Adapt template styles to project requirements and author preferences.
• Produce print-ready PDF files adhering to printer and publishing standards.
• Investigate and fix file issues from authors and ensure proper formatting.
• Provide proactive, professional communication and build client relationships.

Design Consultant

In this role, you will showcase excellent visual design skills with a client-focused mindset. You will serve as the author's primary point of contact for real-time updates with the creative process, to ensure that the development of the design aligns with the author's goals, vision, and identity.

What a Day in the Life of a Design Consultant looks like

• Using Adobe InDesign, create original and updated book layouts based on authors' technical specifications and formatting requirements
• Utilize design best practices and make well-informed choices to address formatting and layout problems in compliance with established protocols
• Adapt template styles to author's tastes and project specifications
• Create print-ready PDF files that adhere to printer and publishing requirements
• Investigate and fix problems with files submitted by authors, as well as the formatting, or software programs
• RTF files should be extracted and prepared for content assessment and review
• Examine author-submitted photos to make sure they adhere to print production requirements
• Revise and update legacy files to meet modern publishing and printing specifications
• Build long-lasting relationships by being proactive in your communication, working together, and providing outstanding customer service
• Present design ideas, suggestions, and project updates with assurance and professionalism

What we are looking for

• A bachelor's degree in multimedia, advertising, or fine arts, or its equivalent
• At least two years of relevant graphic design expertise; a solid portfolio with a variety of projects is strongly preferred; at least one year of client relations experience is also preferred
• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, PageMaker, InDesign, and Microsoft Office programs
• A thorough comprehension of layout design, typography, and print production needs
• A solid grasp of proofreading symbols
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, above-average comprehension, and confidence to directly explain concepts and designs to international clients
• The ability to multitask, have an excellent eye for details, and work well in a team
• Demonstrated client-facing expertise, including relationship management, direct communication, and presentation
