Job summary

Ultra Clean Technology in the Philippines is seeking a Design Engineer I to create thermal solutions for gas and liquid delivery systems. You will design using AutoDesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks, and work with sales, operations, and manufacturing to meet customer specifications.

You will gain hands-on prototyping and testing experience, contributing to rapid project cycles while maintaining thorough documentation and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred.
• 0-3 years design experience in semiconductor capital equipment.
• Experience with thermal management and electrical design preferred.
• Hands-on prototyping and testing desirable.
• Experience in quick-turn, engineer-to-order environment.

Responsibilities

• Designs thermal solutions for heating and temperature sensing in gas or liquid delivery systems using CAD.
• Provide presentations to sales/operations as needed.
• Research and analyze data from customer proposals and specs to determine feasibility of design.
• Collaborate with account managers and operations to meet customer specifications.
• Coordinate with Thermals manufacturing to support fabrication, testing, and installation.
• Participate in design reviews and cross-functional project meetings.
• Maintain product documentation and engineering records.
• Support cost reduction, quality improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Designs thermal solutions both heating and temperature sensing applications for both gas and/or liquid delivery systems, using Cad software to execute designs.
• Possess some (engineer to engineer) product\project development experience; along with, the ability to provide presentations to sales/operations staff when required.
• Ability to research and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine the feasibility of design or application
• Responsible to work with internal UCT account managers and operations staff to complete design requirements to customers’ specifications
• Coordinates with UCT Thermal manufacturing assisting in the fabrication, test, and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
• Participate in design review meetings with internal staff and to follow the NPI process via MS Teams in PST.
• Potentially participate in customer presentations with sales/operations staff
• Participates in design reviews and cross-functional project meetings.
• Maintains product documentation and engineering records within company systems.
• Supports cost reduction, quality improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provides engineering support for existing product lines while assisting with new product development activities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Personal and or professional experience working physically with tools and manufacturing equipment
• Strong verbal and written communication English skills
• Customer service oriented.
• Must have working knowledge of CAD software – AutoDesk 3D Inventor, and AutoCAD 2D, and SolidWorks.
• A working understanding to effectively work within the Agile database
• Knowledge of SAP preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with operations and other groups to ensure that site delivery and quality issues are met
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and database software
• A fundamental understanding of thermal applications and material properties

Educational/Certification Requirement

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered

Experience Requirement

• 0-3 years design experience in semiconductor capital equipment, heating or related industry. Experience with thermal management and electrical design preferred.
• Experience with thermal management and electrical design preferred.
• Hands on experience with prototyping and testing is highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of quick-turn, engineer-to-order environment.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Work Environment

Physical Demands

• Work may require the ability to lift 10-20 pounds infrequently
• Ability to attend MS Teams meetings and use a computer for extended periods of time will be required. Attend meetings in PST

Environmental Exposure

• May involve exposure to moderate noise levels from manufacturing process equipment.
• May have exposure to silicones, fiberglass and epoxies used in the fabrication of thermal products.

Overnight Travel

• Work could require out of town travel depending upon assignment for (training and meeting).
• Training to include 2-3 months of extensive US Hayward including but not limited to: Fabrication, designing and testing of Thermal Products.

Role Progression Expectations

The Design Engineer I role is intended to build foundational engineering knowledge and progressively develop independent design capability. Employees are expected to demonstrate increasing technical proficiency, ownership, and engineering judgment as they gain experience.
