Job summary

Satellite Office is seeking a detail-oriented Demand Planner to join our client's Demand Planning team. You will forecast demand across channels using historical data, forecasting models and planning systems to generate baseline forecasts and insights.

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent in a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting or supply chain analytics (FMCG preferred).
• Hands-on experience generating or maintaining statistical forecasts from historical data.
• Understanding of time-series forecasting, forecast accuracy metrics and forecast bias.
• Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, lookups, Power Query).
• Experience with planning/supply chain systems.
• Strong data management, analytical and reporting capabilities.
• Ability to investigate data discrepancies and implement improvements.
• Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Strong written English and ability to communicate findings clearly.
• Ability to work independently and meet recurring deadlines across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Manage demand planning data by extracting, cleansing and validating historical sales data, customer orders and POS information.
• Generate statistical baseline forecasts using historical demand patterns and forecasting models.
• Review sales history to identify outliers, stock-outs and unusual events affecting forecast accuracy.
• Maintain planning master data including product hierarchies, mappings, new products and discontinued SKUs.
• Monitor forecast accuracy, MAPE and forecast bias; identify variances and improvement opportunities.
• Conduct root-cause analysis of forecast errors and provide insights to senior planners.
• Prepare and maintain demand review reports, dashboards and S&OP packs.
• Maintain planning calendars, forecast versions and reporting schedules.
• Publish approved forecasts to supply planning and finance systems within timelines.
• Collaborate with Supply Planning, Finance, IT and others to maintain data alignment.
• Identify opportunities to automate reporting and improve processes using planning tools.
• Support the Commercial Demand Planner with approved inputs and adjustments.

Job description

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Demand Planner to join our client's Demand Planning team.

In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting accurate and reliable demand forecasts across multiple channels. You'll work with historical sales data, statistical forecasting models and planning systems to generate baseline forecasts, measure performance and provide meaningful insights that support business decisions.

Working closely with the Senior Demand Planning Manager, the Commercial Demand Planner and cross-functional teams, you'll help ensure demand planning data is accurate, reports are delivered on time, and forecasting processes run efficiently.

What You'll Do

• Manage demand planning data by extracting, cleansing and validating historical sales data, customer orders and point-of-sale information.

• Generate statistical baseline forecasts using historical demand patterns, forecasting models and relevant planning parameters.

• Review sales history to identify outliers, stock-outs and unusual events that may affect forecast accuracy.

• Maintain planning master data, including product hierarchies, customer and channel mappings, new products and discontinued SKUs.

• Monitor and analyse forecast accuracy, MAPE and forecast bias, identifying significant variances and opportunities for improvement.

• Conduct root-cause analysis of forecast errors and provide supporting insights to the Commercial Demand Planner and Demand Planning Manager.

• Prepare and maintain demand review reports, dashboards and monthly S&OP reporting packs.

• Maintain planning calendars, forecast versions, documentation and reporting schedules.

• Publish approved forecasts to relevant supply planning and finance systems within agreed timelines.

• Collaborate with Supply Planning, Finance, IT and other stakeholders to maintain data alignment and resolve planning issues.

• Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency through automation, process improvements and better use of planning tools.

• Support the Commercial Demand Planner by incorporating approved commercial inputs and forecast adjustments into the planning system.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone with strong analytical skills, a structured approach to problem-solving and hands‑on experience in demand planning, forecasting or supply chain analytics.

Ideally, you'll have:

• A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Analytics or a related discipline.

• At least 2 years of relevant experience in demand planning, forecasting or supply chain analytics, preferably within the FMCG industry.

• Hands‑on experience generating or maintaining statistical forecasts using historical sales data.

• An understanding of time‑series forecasting methods, forecast accuracy metrics and forecast bias.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookups and Power Query.

• Experience using demand planning, forecasting or supply chain planning systems.

• Strong data management, analytical and reporting capabilities.

• The ability to investigate data discrepancies, identify root causes and recommend practical improvements.

• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.

• Strong written English and the ability to communicate analytical findings clearly.

• The ability to work independently, manage recurring deadlines and proactively raise issues.

• Experience collaborating with international teams across different time zones.

Nice to Have

• Experience with planning systems such as SAP IBP, SAP APO, Kinaxis, o9, Blue Yonder or Anaplan.

• Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), Blueshift or other relevant business systems.

• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python or R.

• Familiarity with Australian retail, grocery or convenience channels.

• APICS/ASCM CPIM or CPF certification.
