Job summary

BDO Unibank is seeking a Database Administrator to safeguard the performance, integrity and security of our databases. You will monitor, tune and support incidents across platforms to ensure high availability and scalable solutions.

The role involves hands-on work with Oracle, MSSQL, Postgres, MySQL, RDS and Aurora, plus cloud DB skills in AWS/Azure. You’ll collaborate with developers, perform capacity planning and implement automation. Onsite in Makati or Ortigas, Philippines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS or related field.
• 4+ years managing Oracle, MSSQL, Postgres, MySQL, RDS, Aurora, MongoDB.
• Advanced SQL knowledge.
• Cloud DB experience in AWS/Azure.
• Data analysis skills (normalization).
• Scripting: Shell, Python or Perl.
• ITIL or Unix certification is a plus.
• Onsite in Makati/Ortigas.

The Database Administrator is responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of the database. He/She will be in-charge of managing and monitoring database performance, support and respond to database incidents, identify improvements to ensure optimum performance, database build, maintenance, tuning and capacity planning.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Install, tune, implement and maintain databases systems to ensure availability, performance, scalability and security.
• Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis and problem solving across platforms and application domains.
• Provide guidance and support to Application Developers and Designers.
• Conduct capacity planning, patch management, preventive maintenance and application deployments.
• Identify and execute automation opportunities and enhancements.
• Ethically handling private data for all Stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any courses relevant to the role.
• At least 4 years of experience in managing different flavors of Databases such as Oracle, MSSQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, RDS, Aurora, Mongo DB.
• Advanced knowledge in SQL
• Preferably with experience in cloud database technologies in AWS/Azure.
• Knowledgeable in Data Analysis (e.g., Normalization)
• Preferably with scripting skills in Shell, Python or Perl
• ITIL or Unix certification is a plus.
• Must be willing to work onsite and be assigned in Makati/Ortigas.
