Job description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, install, configure, administer, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases across Windows Server, Linux, on-premises, and cloud environments, ensuring high availability, security, performance, and reliability.


• Monitor, analyze, and optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, capacity planning, and proactive monitoring.


• Develop, implement, and maintain database security, including user access management, encryption, auditing, and security hardening.


• Develop and manage backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery strategies to support the IT Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) program and ensure minimal data loss.


• Create and maintain database architecture diagrams, database dictionaries, operational procedures, and technical documentation.


• Support database development by designing and optimizing database objects, including stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers.


• Develop, maintain, and support Data Warehouse databases and ETL processes.


• Serve as the primary database resource for application development, implementation, upgrades, and infrastructure projects, collaborating with Development Teams, Project Managers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and reliable database solutions.


• Evaluate, recommend, and implement new database technologies, cloud solutions, automation tools, and best practices to improve database operations.


• Lead troubleshooting, incident response, and root cause analysis for database-related issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal downtime.


• Implement database monitoring, health checks, and maintenance automation to proactively identify and resolve issues.


• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Junior Database Administrators and other IT team members.


• Ensure compliance with the Information Security Management System (ISMS), data privacy regulations, and organizational security policies.


• Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by Management.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Educational Background

• BS degree in Information Technology or Computer Science

Experience

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator supporting enterprise database environments.


• Minimum 3 years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server, including installation, configuration, patching, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security management.


• Experience administering PostgreSQL databases is highly preferred.


• Experience supporting database environments on Windows Server and Linux operating systems.


• At least 2 years of experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or Alibaba Cloud.


• Experience in Data Warehouse, ETL processes, and database migration projects is an advantage.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of database administration, maintenance, performance tuning, optimization, backup, recovery, replication, and high availability (HA/DR).


• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.


• Working knowledge of database security, including encryption, access control, auditing, and security best practices.


• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and Data Warehouse/ETL.


• Familiarity with system integration, APIs, and analytics/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).


• Experience administering databases on Windows Server, Linux, and cloud platforms.


• Proficient in SQL scripting, stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and query optimization.


• Familiarity with database monitoring tools and Business Continuity (BC), Disaster Recovery (DR), and ISMS principles.
