About The Role
The Data Scientist plays a key role in identifying business challenges and opportunities by developing data-driven and AI-powered solutions that support strategic decision-making. This role applies statistical analysis, machine learning, and advanced analytics techniques to uncover insights that drive revenue growth, cost optimization, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Working closely with business stakeholders, the Data Scientist translates complex business problems into scalable analytical solutions and supports the adoption of data-driven practices across the organization. The role contributes to digital transformation and operational excellence initiatives within the bank through innovative use of data and emerging technologies.
What You'll Do
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand challenges, define opportunities, and recommend data-driven solutions that support strategic objectives.
- Lead and manage data science initiatives, including project scoping, prioritization, success metrics definition, and delivery planning.
- Explore, assess, and document internal and external data sources, ensuring data quality and usability for analytics and AI projects.
- Conduct statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and data visualization to identify patterns, trends, and business insights.
- Design, develop, validate, and deploy machine learning and AI models that support revenue generation, cost reduction, risk management, and compliance objectives.
- Perform feature engineering, model selection, training, testing, and performance optimization using appropriate analytical techniques.
- Apply advanced analytics and machine learning methods while incorporating business and domain knowledge into solution development.
- Establish and promote best practices for Machine Learning Development Lifecycle (MLDLC), model governance, and operationalization.
- Collaborate with data science, technology, and business teams to encourage knowledge sharing and reuse of analytical assets.
- Present findings, recommendations, business impact assessments, and implementation strategies to stakeholders and senior management.
- Support continuous improvement of data science capabilities, tools, and methodologies across the organization.
- Ensure adherence to data governance, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements applicable to banking operations.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
- Proven experience in data science, machine learning, predictive modeling, and advanced analytics, preferably within financial services, banking, or highly regulated industries.
- Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools such as Power BI; experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of statistical modeling, feature engineering, machine learning algorithms, and big data analytics.
- Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical insights into business recommendations.
- Familiarity with banking operations, risk management, data governance, regulatory compliance, and relevant BSP and data privacy requirements is an advantage.
