Job Overview
Manager, Private Equity Data Governance – reporting to the Private Equity Data Governance Lead within the CFO organization. This role designs, implements, and sustains enterprise‑aligned data governance capabilities that enable accurate, transparent, and scalable data infrastructure across Bain Capital’s private equity platform.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain data governance frameworks, including data quality standards, metadata and catalog governance, and regulatory and audit‑ready controls.
- Define and govern data architecture across the private equity platform, partnering with stakeholders to implement data strategies across source systems and data lake access layers.
- Drive data quality management and issue resolution, building reasonability tests, automated alerts, root‑cause analysis, and remediation controls.
- Administer and advance the data catalog and metadata framework, documenting key data terms, processes, and protocols to support transparency and lineage.
- Lead AI‑readiness and agentic governance design, identifying opportunities for AI‑assisted workflows, automated monitoring, and large language model‑enabled data operations.
- Enable automated reporting and visualization, ensuring data architecture supports accurate, flexible reporting through tools such as Power BI and approved AI/reporting tools.
- Develop and track data health KPIs and metrics, establishing governance scorecards that measure data quality, process compliance, and reporting accuracy.
- Serve as a cross‑functional governance partner to Investment and Trade Operations, Finance, Data Analytics & Reporting, Portfolio Management, Investor Relations, and Information Technology.
Qualifications
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with demonstrated credibility across Finance, Operations, Investment Management, and Technology.
- Process discipline, able to design new processes and improve existing ones.
- Self‑starter with a deadline‑driven mindset and ability to manage competing priorities in a data‑intensive, fast‑moving environment.
- Understanding of private equity as an asset class is a plus.
- Proven experience in data governance, ideally within asset management or financial services; preference for candidates with a primary background in data governance.
- Curiosity and comfort with AI‑assisted development and agentic workflow design; hands‑on experimentation with AI coding tools is a strong plus.
- 8+ years of experience in asset management or a closely related field, with meaningful tenure in data governance, data management, or a related discipline.
Benefits
Expected annual base salary $125,000 – $140,000, with eligibility for discretionary annual bonus based on individual impact, team and firm performance. Comprehensive benefits package supporting health, financial security, family needs, and overall well‑being.
