Thinking Machines is a technology consultancy building AI and data platforms to solve high-impact problems for clients. We hire data-driven engineers who can collect, transform, and securely store data to power AI and analytics.

You’ll build scalable ETL pipelines, analytics platforms, and sometimes deploy ML models while mentoring junior engineers. Ideal candidates bring strong Python/SQL skills, deep cloud experience (AWS, GCP; Azure a bonus), and a consultative mindset to help clients achieve

Qualifications

• 3+ years of work experience in data eng or software eng.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Airflow; comfortable with Postgres, dbt, BigQuery and Snowflake.
• Experience with cloud environments—AWS and GCP; Azure a bonus.
• Experience with Google/Azure stack and tools like TensorFlow, Data Factory, Databricks.
• Security-conscious mindset; handle confidential data with established guidelines.
• Ability to move fast and deliver practical engineering solutions.
• Mentorship or project leadership experience.
• Strong communication skills; document code and write technical docs.
• Consultative mindset; guide clients to solutions with actionable insights.
• Generalist mindset; willing to explore roles beyond data engineering.
• Initiative; proactively support teammates and projects.

Responsibilities

• Architect data collection, transformation, and storage systems.
• Create scripts, APIs, scrapers or end-to-end ETL pipelines.
• Build analytics platforms for SaaS clients and optimize data pipelines.
• Develop and deploy ML models when needed.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster team learning.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams; document decisions and code.
