Job summary

Thinking Machines in Manila seeks an Engineering Consultant (Data Engineering) to build data collection, transformation, and storage systems for analytics platforms. You will create ETL pipelines and data warehouses, and secure datasets for confidential projects.

You’ll work across SaaS and NGO ecosystems, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with clients and internal teams. A strong background in Python, SQL, Airflow, and cloud services is required with a consultative mindset.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of work experience in a data engineering or software engineering role.
• Proficiency in Python programming language, SQL, and Airflow—Postgres is our favorite flavor of RDBMS, but you have to be ready to use tools such as dbt, BigQuery, and Snowflake.
• Experience managing various cloud environments—AWS and GCP; Azure experience a bonus.
• Experience with Google and/or Azure stack—BigQuery, Dataflow, TensorFlow, Azure Data Factory, Databricks.
• Security-conscious mindset—Handling client data with guidelines and protocols.
• Ability to build fast and deliver quickly without compromising quality.
• Mentorship or leadership experience to guide junior engineers.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
