Job summary

Mergepoint AI is seeking a hands-on Data Analyst based in Metro Manila with hybrid work flexibility. You will translate client objectives into reliable data, analytical models, decision rules, and dashboards, writing SQL, preparing datasets, and maintaining data flows to support reporting and AI-enabled analysis.

You’ll manage requirements from data prep through testing, client review, and ongoing improvements, investigating discrepancies and ensuring accuracy across views and outputs.

Qualifications

Role Description

We’re looking for a hands-on Data Analyst who can understand how a business operates and translate its objectives into reliable data, analytical models, decision rules, and useful dashboards.

You’ll work directly with clients to understand their processes, define business outcomes, and determine the equations, metrics, thresholds, and feedback loops needed to support better decisions. You’ll write SQL queries, prepare and validate datasets, build dashboards in Metabase, and help maintain the data flows that support reporting and AI-enabled analysis.

The role follows the work through from requirements and data preparation to testing, client review, and ongoing improvement. You’ll investigate discrepancies, explain findings clearly, and assess whether the actions taken are producing the intended results.

This is a full-time hybrid position based in Metro Manila, with flexibility for some work from home.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand client operations: Engage directly with clients to map processes, clarify requirements, identify decision points, and agree on measurable business outcomes.
• Develop business logic: Translate operational objectives into equations, KPI definitions, analytical models, and scenario comparisons. Document calculation methods, assumptions, units, and the level of detail required.
• Define thresholds and responses: Work with stakeholders to establish targets, tolerances, exception rules, and escalation criteria that connect performance signals to appropriate action and ownership.
• Write and maintain SQL: Develop, debug, and optimise SQL queries to combine datasets, apply business logic, calculate metrics, and support dashboards and analysis.
• Prepare and model data: Clean, reconcile, transform, and structure operational data, maintaining traceability from source records to analytical outputs and preventing issues such as missing joins or double counting.
• Maintain reliable data flows: Build and maintain analytical transformations and reporting datasets, monitor data freshness and quality, and work with engineers to resolve pipeline, integration, and refresh issues.
• Build Metabase dashboards: Create and maintain saved questions, charts, dashboards, and filters that help clients understand performance, investigate exceptions, and track outcomes. Use clear business terminology, metric definitions, units, and relevant comparisons.
• Validate before delivery: Test calculations, filters, consistency across views, query performance, and edge cases. Reconcile outputs against source data and agreed business definitions.
• Support AI-enabled analysis: Define the data and analytical context needed for AI-generated insights, then validate explanations and recommendations against evidence and business rules.
• Create feedback loops: Connect decisions and actions to subsequent results, assess performance against baselines and targets, and recommend refinements to models, thresholds, and workflows.
• Deliver with clients: Present findings, demonstrate dashboards, capture feedback, support user acceptance testing, and prepare practical documentation that helps clients use the solution effectively.

• Strong practical skills in Excel or Google Sheets for analysis, reconciliation, and validation.
• Experience with relational data modelling, data transformation, and reporting datasets, including understanding data granularity and avoiding double counting.
• Ability to develop and explain business equations, KPI definitions, targets, thresholds, and the relationships between operational drivers and business outcomes.
• Working knowledge of statistics, variability, trend analysis, and evaluating results against a baseline.
• Understanding of data pipelines and refresh processes, with the ability to investigate data quality issues and collaborate with engineers on resolution.
• Clear communication skills and confidence in gathering requirements, presenting findings, and working directly with clients.
• Strong attention to accuracy, documentation, ownership, and following work through to a verified result.
• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement based in Metro Manila.
