Job summary

Summit Resourcing is seeking a CTO / Senior Tech Lead for a fast-growing B2B EdTech SaaS. You will own the tech roadmap, lead an engineering team, and partner with the Founder/CEO to improve stability and scale. The role emphasizes AI-enabled development and modern tooling.

Here at Summit we are recruiting a CTO / Senior Tech Lead for a fast-growing B2B EdTech SaaS company. Their platform lets organisations run structured peer learning and leadership development programmes at scale, already delivered across more than fifty countries.

They are now building the fourth generation of it - a more scalable, technology-led experience with AI, recording and transcription at its core, opening the roadmap out into coaching, mentoring and one-to-one conversations that don't exist yet in any form.

The role

This is the senior technology seat, working directly with the Founder/CEO. Early on that means forming an honest view of the existing codebase, infrastructure and team, then being straight about what's strong, what's fragile and what has to change.

Stability and a real reduction in recurring bugs come first, then building for scale. Alongside that you'll lead and grow the engineering team and put in the processes - sprint cadence, code review, testing, QA, deployment - that let it run without the founder pulled into daily decisions. There's genuine appetite for AI-assisted and agentic development practices, properly introduced.

The stack - you'll need real familiarity across all three

• Ruby on Rails - the backend API
• React.js - the web front end

The team is stronger than the company's size, with backend across Rails, Laravel, FastAPI and Go, frontend across React, TypeScript and Flutter, and dedicated QA.

What we need from you

• Meaningful startup exposure. You don't need to have worked exclusively in startups, but a purely large-corporate background won't suit how this company operates.
• Either 3-5+ years in a CTO or engineering leadership capacity, or 8+ years as a developer including engineering management experience.
• A track record of taking a working product through a startup or scale-up phase and leaving it measurably more stable and more mature.
• Comfort communicating with non-technical stakeholders - founders, clients and commercial teams.
• A hands-on builder with a founder's mindset and real urgency, who asks the difficult questions and never raises a problem without a recommended path forward.
• Consistent overlap with 9am-5pm GMT, and able to join a 10am GMT stand-up daily. Candidates available only during US working hours cannot be considered.
• Professional fluency in English - all internal communication is in English.

The package

Fully remote across Europe. $100,000 to $120,000 depending on experience, plus bonus, benefits and share options.
