Job summary

SIROC is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our distributed team and build scalable web applications. You will design REST APIs, backend infrastructure, and data models, collaborating with DevOps, frontend, and data engineers to deliver robust SaaS and B2B products.

We expect strong Python expertise, FastAPI, SQL/NoSQL databases, Docker, and CI/CD, plus excellent English communication. This fully remote EU/EEA role offers a competitive salary and a brand-new MacBook Pro.

Qualifications

• University degree in software engineering, computer science, mathematics or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Git, GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong Python development experience and Docker/Docker-Compose expertise.

Responsibilities

• Design custom REST API services.

At SIROC we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our worldwide team. As a Backend Engineer, you will play a necessary role in our team, focusing on building web applications and working together with our engineers, project managers, designers, and venture investors. Your ability to learn and stay up-to-date with the latest frameworks and community updates will play a key role in the success of our experimental SaaS and B2B products and the digital AI transformation of our customers.

What We Expect From You

• Fluent in English with excellent oral and written communication skills.
• University degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or similar is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in working with Git, defining pipelines, GitHub actions, and continuous integration.
• Proficiency in working on Python, pyenv, PIP, and its IDE environment (PyCharm or equivalent).
• Expertise in building APIs using FastAPI or similar.
• Expertise with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, TimescaleDB, ...).
• Expertise with non-SQL databases (MongoDB).
• Experience with frameworks such as Redis, ElasticSearch, RabbitMQ, Celery, or others.
• Experience in Docker, Docker-Compose, and DevOps is highly valued.
• Experience in Kotlin or Java is valued (Spring Boot) but not required.
• Ability to motivate, encourage, persuade, increase cooperation, and reduce tension among team members.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and execute within a high-pressure environment.
