Job summary

Jones Engineering is seeking a CSA Design Lead to oversee design and engineering activities for CSA project deliverables at our Zaragoza onsite location. You will ensure designs are delivered safely, accurately, on time, and in line with client requirements, codes, standards, and internal procedures.

You will mentor engineers and drafters, lead design workstreams, review packages, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project milestones and quality goals.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering/architecture.
• Professional certification such as PMP, PE, RPEng, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of CSA design experience.
• Proven experience leading design deliverables for Data Centre projects.

Responsibilities

• Design Leadership & Delivery: lead CSA design workstreams across projects from concept through design development and IFC/submittals.
• Ensure outputs meet technical requirements, quality benchmarks, and timelines.
• Coordinate design deliverables: drawings, calculations, reports, specs.
• Provide design guidance to engineers and support teams to resolve issues.
• Coordinate with MEP, structural, architects, project engineers, contractors, and clients.
• Participate in meetings and design reviews to resolve conflicts.
• Identify risks and propose mitigation for design/schedule/constructability.

Job Description

The CSA Design Lead is responsible for leading the design and engineering activities related to CSA project deliverables. This role ensures designs are delivered safely, accurately, on time, and in compliance with client requirements, codes, standards, and internal procedures.

Your Responsibilities will include:

• Design Leadership & Delivery
• Lead CSA design workstreams across projects from concept through design development and IFC/submittals.
• Ensure all design outputs meet technical requirements, quality benchmarks, and project timelines.
• Coordinate design deliverables including drawings, calculations, reports, and specifications.
• Technical Oversight & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and project specifications.
• Review design packages for accuracy, constructability, and engineering integrity.
• Provide design guidance to engineers and support teams to resolve technical issues.
• Coordination & Stakeholder Management
• Coordinate with MEP, structural, architects, project engineers, contractors, and clients.
• Ensure interface requirements and design dependencies are clearly defined and managed.
• Participate in meetings and design reviews, providing updates and resolving conflicts.
• Quality, Safety & Risk Management
• Promote a “quality-first” mindset across design activities.
• Identify risks early (design, schedule, constructability, permitting) and propose mitigation.
• Ensure design documentation is controlled, traceable, and consistent with standards.
• Team Management
• Mentor and support engineers/drafters involved in CSA design activities.
• Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to design standards.
• Support training or knowledge-sharing within the team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education

• Degree in engineering/architecture
• Professional certification such as PMP, PE, RPEng, or equivalent

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of CSA design experience.
• Proven experience leading design deliverables for Data Centre projects.

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of CSA design principles and engineering codes/standards relevant to Aragon region.

Proficiency with design tools

• AutoCAD / Revit / Civil 3D / Tekla / ETABS / SAP2000

Experience producing and reviewing deliverables such as:

• Drawings (GA, plan, sections)
• Calculation packages
• Design reports / specs
• IFC/permit packages

Tools, Systems & Documentation

Working knowledge of:

• Document control systems (4 Projects Aconex / SharePoint /Nexus)
• Versioning and drawing revision workflows
• QA/QC design review processes

Deliverables

• Concept / preliminary / detailed design drawings
• Calculations and design basis reports
• Specifications and technical scopes
• IFC and coordination packages
• Design review comments and response registers
• As-built verification support
