Job summary

Spinneys Philippines is seeking Counterhands to join our store team, supporting the Deli, Bakery, Meat, Fish, and Pork sections. The Counterhand will assist customers, maintain product presentation, ensure proper handling and storage of products, and keep the assigned counter clean, organized, and fully stocked.

This role requires basic food safety knowledge, good communication, physical stamina, and flexibility to work shifting schedules, including weekends and holidays, in a cold/chilled

Qualifications

• Senior High School graduate or equivalent.
• Experience in retail, supermarket, food service, deli, bakery, meat, fish, or butcher sections is advantageous.
• Experience handling fresh food is preferred for Meat, Fish, and Pork Counterhand roles.
• Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
• Willing to work shifting schedules, weekends and holidays.
• Willing to work in a cold/chilled environment when assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with product inquiries, selections, and requests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Prepare, portion, pack, label, weigh, and display products according to section standards.
• Maintain attractive and organized product displays at the assigned counter.
• Ensure products are properly stored, handled, and rotated following food safety and hygiene standards.
• Monitor product freshness, quality, expiration dates, and stock levels.
• Replenish products and maintain adequate stock availability throughout the shift.
• Follow FIFO/FEFO procedures and proper product labeling.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other store departments regarding stock requirements and customer requests.
• Handle customer concerns professionally and elevate issues to the supervisor when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist customers with product inquiries, selections, and requests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Prepare, portion, pack, label, weigh, and display products according to section standards.
• Maintain attractive and organized product displays at the assigned counter.
• Ensure products are properly stored, handled, and rotated following food safety and hygiene standards.
• Monitor product freshness, quality, expiration dates, and stock levels.
• Replenish products and maintain adequate stock availability throughout the shift.
• Operate weighing scales, slicers, cutting equipment, and other section equipment as required and authorized.
• Follow proper handling procedures for meat, fish, pork, deli products, and bakery items to prevent cross-contamination.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of counters, equipment, work areas, and storage areas.
• Assist with receiving, checking, and storing deliveries when required.
• Follow FIFO/FEFO procedures and proper product labeling.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other store departments regarding stock requirements and customer requests.
• Handle customer concerns professionally and elevate issues to the supervisor when necessary.
• Follow company policies, food safety regulations, health and safety procedures, and store standards.

Section-Specific Duties

Prepare, portion, slice, pack, and display deli products.

Maintain proper presentation and freshness of cold cuts, cheeses, ready-to-eat items, and other deli products.

Assist with receiving, arranging, packing, and displaying bread, pastries, and bakery products.

Monitor product freshness and ensure proper handling of baked goods.

Assist with weighing, cutting, portioning, packing, labeling, and displaying meat products as trained.

Maintain proper temperature control and hygiene standards.

Assist with handling, weighing, cleaning, packing, labeling, and displaying fresh fish and seafood as trained.

Maintain proper temperature, sanitation, and freshness standards.

Assist with weighing, portioning, packing, labeling, and displaying pork products.

Follow strict hygiene, sanitation, temperature-control, and cross-contamination prevention procedures.

Qualifications

• At least Senior High School graduate or equivalent.
• Previous experience in retail, supermarket, food service, deli, bakery, meat, fish, or butcher sections is an advantage.
• Experience handling fresh food products is preferred for Meat, Fish, and Pork Counterhand roles.
