Job Description

The Costing Engineer is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and managing detailed cost estimates and budgets for HVAC and mechanical projects. This role ensures alignment between project design, procurement, and cost control processes.

• Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates based on project drawings, specifications, and scope.

1. Budget Monitoring & Cost Tracking
   • Monitor actual project costs against approved budgets and estimates.
   • Identify and report cost variances and potential overruns to management in a timely manner.
2. Procurement Coordination Support
   • Provide material take-offs and quantity verifications to support procurement planning.
   • Review supplier quotations to confirm consistency with project estimates.
3. Quantity Take-Offs & BOQ Preparation
   • Perform accurate quantity take-offs from mechanical/HVAC drawings and specifications.
   • Assist in the preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs) in line with project requirements.
   • Validate received materials and submittals against BOQs for compliance.
   • Maintain organized records of cost estimates, revisions, costing sheets, and final BOQs.
4. Collaboration with Project Teams
   • Work closely with Engineers and Project Managers to align cost planning with actual field conditions.
   • Participate in site meetings to provide cost-related insights and updates.
   • Propose value engineering options when applicable to optimize cost-efficiency.
5. Accuracy, Timeliness & Output Quality
   • Deliver high-quality cost documents, estimates, and reports on schedule with minimal errors.
   • Uphold quality standards and accuracy in all deliverables under tight timelines.
   • Demonstrate reliability and diligence in completing assigned tasks.
6. Qualifications
   • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
