Job summary

Pilmico Foods Corporation is seeking a Control Room Operator to manage receiving, batching, grinding, and pelleting processes in our feed production lines. The role involves ensuring efficient operation of major equipment across Receiving, Batching, Pelleting, and Bagging sections, with emphasis on accuracy, safety, and quality of feeds produced.

You will coordinate with QA and maintenance, operate computerized systems, and prepare production reports.

Qualifications

• Engineering graduate preferred (Electrical or Mechanical).
• Experience in feed milling operations is preferred.
• Knowledge of PLCs and automation systems is desirable.
• Must be able to work under light supervision and under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with warehouseman on raw material sequencing to prevent stockouts.
• Operate the computerized receiving system and select designated silos/bins.
• Review formulations with QA and adjust as needed.
• Operate and monitor the computerized batching system for weighing, grinding and mixing.
• Oversee pelleting and fat coating processes and ensure quality parameters (durability, color, size, nutrition).
• Prepare run tickets and batching reports; provide feedback to maintenance on abnormalities.
• Coordinate with maintenance for steam/air supply and equipment readiness.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and adhere to safety and housekeeping standards.

Job Description

Reporting directly to the Plant Supervisor, the Control Room Operator ensures the efficient operation on major and minor equipment in areas of Receiving section, batching, Grinding and Mixing Operation; Pelleting and Fat Coating Operation and Bagging section. Produce high-quality Feeds in the most efficient and economical way and Contributes to the quality and quantity objective of the Plant.

A. Receiving section

• Coordinates with the warehouseman the sequence of raw materials to be poured to minimize material run out based on the production line up.
• Operates the computerized receiving system by choosing the designated silo/bin per materials to be poured.
• Ensures that no overflowing, intermixing, and clogging occurs during pouring and conveying of raw materials based on the bin/silo inventory report.
• Submit reports to Plant Supervisor regarding the raw materials received during the shift.

B. Batching, Grinding and Mixing operation

• Coordinates with Plant Supervisor regarding the type of product to be produced
• Check/review the formulation and make the necessary adjustment in coordination with QA personnel.
• In coordination with Micro technician, ensures that sequence of batching are being followed based on the production schedule.
• Operates the computerized batching system through weighing, grinding, mixing and conveying these to pelleting bins.
• Monitors weighing, grinding and mixing to ensure high batching efficiency.
• Ensures continuous batching operation in coordination with warehouseman regarding the availability of raw materials needed.
• Ensures accurate liquid addition required in the formulation.
• Provide and give feedback to maintenance personnel regarding any abnormalities and equipment condition.
• Prepares run ticket and accomplishes batching report.

C. Pelleting and Fats coating operation

• Ensures that all pelleting and fat coating system equipment such as pellet mill and tender blenders are all in good running condition.
• Checks all pelleting parameters and make a necessary adjustment based on product formulation.
• Coordinates with Maintenance personnel regarding the adequate supply of good quality steam and air pressure before and during operation.
• Operates computerized pelleting system according to the specified sequence.
• Monitors and ensures the feeds being produced conforms with the company standards in terms of quality such as pellet durability, shade/color, size, and nutritional value.
• Accomplishes pelleting report.
• Monitors pelleting equipment during operation such as;
  • a. mash bins
    • ensures that pelleting bins are clean and no meal hang up before change over
  • b. pellet mill
    • feeder variable frequency drive is functioning properly
    • ensures that all temperature probe and plug sensors are clean
    • ensures correct, steady supply of good quality steam
    • ampere reading is steady and within the target which indicates a steady and even flow of discharge from the conditioner.
    • knives/cutters are in the correct position and setting indicating a correct pellet length for a specific product.
    • ensures correct roller adjustment/setting
    • ensures correct injection of liquids in the conditioner, nozzles must be clean.
  • c. crumbler
    • ensures correct and proper adjustment for a specific product
  • d. tender blender
    • ensures correct injection of coconut oil-based from the formulation

D. Bagging section

• coordinates with Bagger regarding the sequence and feed type to be bagged including the bin assignment
• checks the accuracy of the bagging report to be submitted to the Plant Supervisor

E. Others

• prepares production report at the end of shift
• performs minor repair and maintenance including adjustment on mechanical components
• gives feedback in terms of automation error as well as automation improvement
• adheres to company policies, follows safety practices, and maintain good housekeeping in his area of responsibility
• calibration of coconut oil injection at tender blender
• calibration of batch mixers liquid injection such as molasses and coconut oil
• calibration of liquid injection at conditioner
• coordination with the outgoing plant operator regarding shift’s operation
• ensures proper turnover to the incoming plant operator
• performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of Engineering Course preferably Electrical or Mechanical

Experience

• Preferably with experience in Feed Milling Operation

• Can work under pressure with minimum supervision
