Job summary

ABS-CBN Corporation is seeking a Content Development Associate in Metro Manila to provide subtitling, translation, transcription, and synopsis writing for various repurposing groups. You will ensure English subtitles meet CC file requirements and uphold quality for local and international OTT.

The role involves coordinating with supervisors on schedules, handling administrative tasks, and responding to client inquiries to improve the quality management process.

Qualifications

• College graduate with a 4-year course; preferred majors include Creative Writing, Journalism, or Literature.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in at least one Philippine local dialect other than Filipino.
• Must pass the Synopsis Writing, Transcription, and Translation exams.
• Willing to work in rotational shifts and in the broadcast environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide subtitling, translation, transcription, and synopsis writing services to various repurposing groups.
• Provide English subtitles/translation that satisfy closed caption standards for local and international OTT.
• Quality checks, edits, and reviews translations and subtitles.
• Coordinate and meet with Superior for assignments, schedules, and deadlines.
• Handle administrative tasks and assist with any other duties from time to time.
• Attend to client inquiries and monitor feedback to improve quality management.

Job description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Content Development Associate is in-charge of providing the following services: subtitling, translation, transcription, and synopsis writing to various repurposing groups. Also in-charge of providing English subtitles / translation following closed caption file requirements (audio cues, etc.) and ensuring that set quality standards are met both for local and international OTT requirements.

Content Repurposing

• Quality checks, edits and reviews translation of programs/movies/content with subtitles
• Provides SDH (subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing) and non-SDH versions for other potential clients
• Provides supplemental text related to the video content (for example: audio description)

Administrative Management

• Coordinates and meets with Superior for assignments, machine schedules, and deadlines.
• Handles administrative tasks assigned by superior
• Performs any other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time

Customer Relations Management

• Attends to all queries & provides assistance to clients and ensures that customer feedback & complaints are monitored and addressed in order to continuously improve the effectiveness of the quality management system & to meet the requirements of clients

Policy and Procedure Development

• Determines and formulates preventive actions to eliminate causes of potential nonconformities of the section in order to prevent their occurrence

Policy and Procedure Implementation

• Complies with the implemented corrective actions to eliminate causes of nonconformities encountered by the section to prevent their recurrence

REQUIREMENTS

Education

• College Graduate (4-year course)
• Creative Writing, Journalism, Literature or any related course preferred

Skills/Capability

• Learned in the discipline of creative writing
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in at least one Philippine local dialect other than Filipino is required.
• Basic Computer operations
• Can work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Keen with details
• Can work with minimum supervision
• With excellent command of the English grammar/language
• Must pass the Synopsis Writing Exam
• Must pass the Transcription Exam
• Must pass the Translation Exam
• Willing to work in rotational shifts
• Willing to work in accordance with the operational nature of the broadcast business

Experience

• At least 2 years related working experience preferred
• Fellowship/participation in writing workshops or seminars is an advantage
