Job summary

PMDC in Davao City is seeking a Community Relations Officer to build and maintain positive relationships with local communities, barangay officials, and stakeholders. You will serve as the bridge between PMDC and residents, address concerns, and support community development initiatives.

The role requires a tertiary qualification in a related field and at least one year of experience in community relations or stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Community Development, Social Work, Public Relations, Communications or a related field
• At least one year of experience in community relations, community development, stakeholder engagement or similar roles
• Proven experience with mining or large-scale projects is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of community dynamics and local governance in the Philippines
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse stakeholders
• Diplomacy and professionalism in handling sensitive issues
• Willingness to travel within the project area and beyond

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement community engagement strategies to build trust with residents and leaders
• Serve as the primary contact for inquiries, concerns and grievances with timely responses
• Conduct community consultations and stakeholder meetings to gather feedback
• Coordinate and support community development projects including livelihood and education
• Monitor and evaluate programme effectiveness and document outcomes
• Prepare reports on sentiment, impact and emerging issues for senior management
• Collaborate with internal departments to align operations with community interests
• Organise community events, seminars and public awareness campaigns
• Maintain relationships with LGUs, NGOs and CBOs

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Community Relations Officer to join our team in Davao City, Davao del Sur. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in building and maintaining positive relationships between PMDC and the local communities surrounding our operations. As Community Relations Officer, you will serve as a key bridge between the corporation and community members, ensuring open communication, addressing concerns, and fostering collaboration on community development initiatives. This role is essential to our commitment to responsible corporate citizenship and sustainable community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement community engagement strategies that build trust and foster positive relationships with local residents, barangay officials and community leaders
• Serve as the primary point of contact for community inquiries, concerns and grievances, ensuring timely and appropriate responses
• Conduct regular community consultations, focus group discussions and stakeholder meetings to gather feedback and understand community needs and expectations
• Coordinate and support community development projects, including livelihood programmes, education initiatives, health services and environmental conservation efforts
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community relations programmes and initiatives, documenting outcomes and lessons learned
• Prepare comprehensive reports on community sentiment, programme impact and emerging issues for senior management
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure community concerns are addressed and that company operations align with community interests
• Organise and facilitate community events, educational seminars and public awareness campaigns
• Build and maintain relationships with local government units, non-governmental organisations and community-based organisations
• Ensure compliance with community engagement standards and corporate social responsibility policies

What we're looking for

• Tertiary qualification in Community Development, Social Work, Public Relations, Communications or a related field
• At least one year of experience in community relations, community development, stakeholder engagement or similar roles
• Proven experience working with mining companies, extractive industries or large-scale projects is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of community dynamics, local governance structures and development issues in the Philippines, particularly in Mindanao
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders from varying backgrounds
• Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive issues, resolve conflicts and handle challenging community situations with diplomacy and professionalism
• Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Fluency in English and Filipino; knowledge of local dialects in Davao is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and community engagement management tools
• Willingness to travel within the project area and beyond as required
