The successful candidate will oversee training programmes, talent identification, performance analysis, and coach development, collaborating with coaches, athletes, staff and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage SBA’s high‑performance coaching and performance areas.
• Oversee training programmes, performance analysis, talent ID & coaching strategies.
• Develop long‑term strategic plans for SBA’s high‑performance pathway.
• Identify and recruit talented athletes, coaches & support staff.
• Ensure daily training environment maximises athlete potential & programme coverage.
• Guide coaches in using data to evaluate and improve training outcomes.
• Provide leadership and resources to coaches and staff.
• Support holistic athlete development including wellbeing.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and ethical standards.
• Collaborate with partners to strengthen the badminton ecosystem.
• Deliver apprenticeship training for SBA-identified coaches.
• Mentor local coaching personnel for succession planning.

Singapore Badminton Association – COACHING DIRECTOR

Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) is inviting applications for the position of Coaching Director. The Coaching Director plays a pivotal role in driving the success of SBA’s high-performance badminton programmes, with responsibility for the development of elite badminton players, athlete pathways, and the development of coaches.

This position requires a strategic, innovative, and results-driven leader with a strong commitment to excellence in sports performance. The successful candidate will provide leadership across SBA’s high-performance programmes and work closely with coaches, athletes, support staff, and relevant stakeholders to enhance the overall performance and development of Singapore badminton.

The Coaching Director will lead and manage the coaching and performance aspects of SBA’s high-performance programmes. The role will oversee the development and implementation of long-term strategies, training programmes, talent identification initiatives, performance analysis, and coach development programmes to maximise athlete performance and support sustained success at the highest levels of competition.

The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:

• At least 10 years of proven experience in a leadership role managing and developing elite badminton players, with a strong track record of success.
• In-depth knowledge of sports science, athlete development, and performance analysis.
• Strong understanding of the international badminton landscape, including competitive trends and developments.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Degree and/or relevant professional certification in sports coaching or a related discipline.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and travel, as required.

Key Responsibilities and Main Tasks and Activities:

1. 1. Lead and manage the coaching and performance aspects of SBA’s high-performance badminton programmes.
2. 2. Oversee the development and implementation of training programmes, performance analysis, talent identification, and coaching strategies to maximise athlete performance at the highest levels of competition.
3. 3. Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for SBA’s high-performance programmes, aligned with the organisation’s goals and objectives.
4. 4. Lead the identification and recruitment of talented athletes, coaches, and support staff to strengthen SBA’s high-performance programmes.
5. 5. Oversee and ensure daily training environment is optimal to maximise athletes’ performance and potential and training programmes are comprehensive.
6. 6. Guide coaches to utilise data and performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes and make data-driven decisions to improve athlete performance.
7. 7. Provide leadership, guidance, and support to coaches and support staff, ensuring they have the necessary resources to perform effectively.
8. 8. Implement strategies to support the holistic development of athletes, including their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
9. 9. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and ethical standards governing high-performance sport.
10. 10. Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to strengthen and enhance the overall high-performance badminton ecosystem.
11. 11. Provide comprehensive apprenticeship training for a core group of SBA-identified coaches.
12. 12. Provide mentorship, training, and development opportunities for identified local coaching personnel as part of SBA’s coach development and succession planning initiatives.
13. 13. Report to the Head of Pathways and Performance.

Other Duties:

To undertake other duties from time to time as reasonably required by the Head of Pathways and Performance and/or CEO.
