Job description

Claims Evaluator (Non-Motor) handles claims related to property, marine, casualty, engineering, and financial lines. Unlike motor claims, which are high-volume and highly standardized, non-motor claims are often technically complex, high-value, and require deep analysis of policy wordings, engineering reports, or financial statements.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, Engineering, Customs Administration, or any related field. - At least 1–2 years of experience handling basic property or casualty claims. - Strong ability to interpret complex commercial policy wordings (e.g., All Risks, Fire and Allied Perils, Marine Cargo, Commercial

General Liability). - Familiarity with the Philippine non-life insurance landscape, including common practices, tariffs, and reinsurance structures (facultative/treaty impact on claims).

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evaluate liability by analyzing incident reports, police reports, fire certificates (from the BFP), weather bureau (PAGASA) data, and shipping documents (for marine lines).
  • Quantum Evaluation: Assess the actual financial loss by reviewing repair estimates, replacement invoices, and financial books.
  • Engage and collaborate with independent third-party Independent Adjustment Companies licensed by the Insurance Commission for complex or large-scale losses.
  • Report Review: Critically review Preliminary, Interim, and Final Adjustment Reports to validate the adjuster’s recommendations on liability and computation.
  • Reserving: Establish, monitor, and adjust accurate financial reserves for reported claims to ensure the company’s financial exposure is accurately reflected.
  • Salvage & Subrogation: Identify opportunities for recovery.

This includes pursuing legally liable third parties (subrogation) or managing the disposal of damaged property (salvage) to mitigate the company’s loss.

  • Claimant Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for corporate clients, brokers, and agents, explaining complex policy exclusions or claim decisions professionally.
  • Dispute Resolution: Handle disputed claims or complaints, ensuring fair treatment of customers in line with the IC’s Market Conduct guidelines.
