Job summary

True Value Philippines is seeking a Category Buyer to manage assigned merchandise categories through strategic sourcing, assortment planning, pricing, and inventory management in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will negotiate with suppliers, plan Open-to-Buy, monitor market trends, and coach junior buyers to ensure product availability, sales and margin targets while delivering superior customer value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, or related field.
• 2–5 years of relevant buying/merchandising experience.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned merchandise categories to achieve sales, margin, and inventory targets.
• Plan product assortment, pricing, inventory, and Open-to-Buy (OTB) based on market and customer needs.
• Source products and manage supplier relationships, including cost and commercial negotiations.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and category performance to identify growth opportunities.
• Supervise and coach Assistant Buyers and Merchandising Assistants to ensure effective execution.

The role drives sales and margin performance, manages supplier relationships and negotiations, monitors market trends, and ensures product availability and optimal inventory levels.

Job Responsibilities:

Job Qualifications:

• With 2-5 years of relevant experience in Buying, Merchandising, Category Management or Retail.
• Strong experience in product sourcing, assortment planning, supplier management, and commercial negotiations.
• Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Results-oriented with strong business acumen and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.
