Job description

Overview

RENEW Energy Partners is looking for a Business Development Lead to originate, structure, and close financed energy infrastructure projects across North America. This is a true hunter role with full responsibility for lead generation, pipeline creation, and transaction execution through financial close. The successful candidate will proactively develop energy project opportunities through direct outreach and market engagement—not through inbound lead flow.

RENEW is at the forefront of scaling an underserved asset class – C&I distributed energy assets. In a world with rapidly rising energy costs, aging infrastructure, reduced grid reliability, and increasing regulatory risk, we protect commercial and industrial businesses by designing, constructing, owning, and operating critical building energy systems. We are technology-agnostic, reflecting that businesses require site-specific solutions, not one-size-fits-all technologies.

This role is ideal for a mid-career project originator (7–12 years of experience) who has closed structured energy or infrastructure transactions and is ready to own a personal pipeline within a growing platform. We want to help you grow, and to grow with you.

Success in this position is defined by the consistent origination and execution of Energy-as-a-Service, Power Purchase, Thermal Energy Purchase, and Energy Services Agreements across a wide array of energy generation, heating, and cooling technologies. We do not expect you to be an expert on all of them from day one (we have an in-house engineering team to help with that) – we want you to lead how to best price, contract, and deploy off-take agreements for those technologies.

About RENEW

Renew Energy Partners (RENEW) provides off-balance sheet capital for mission-critical heating, cooling, and energy infrastructure for commercial and industrial customers. RENEW structures, finances, owns, and operates energy assets under long-term, fixed-price service agreements—eliminating upfront capital requirements and shifting performance, operating, and energy price risk off the customer’s balance sheet. With a 10+ year track record and over $100 million deployed across C&I projects, RENEW enables organizations to preserve capital, maintain financial flexibility, and invest in resilient, modern infrastructure without increasing leverage.

The Company provides equal employment opportunities to all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, age, national origin, physical or mental disability, military or veteran status, genetic information, or any other protected classification. Equal employment opportunity includes, but is not limited to, hiring, training, promotion, demotion, transfer, leaves of absence, and termination. The Company takes allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation seriously, and will promptly investigate when such behavior is reported.

Responsibilities
  • Originate new energy infrastructure opportunities with commercial, industrial, institutional, and portfolio-scale customers.
  • Build and manage a personal pipeline of financable Energy-as-a-Service, Power Purchase Agreements, and Energy Services transactions.
  • Proactively source opportunities through direct outreach, existing market relationships, and selective referral or channel partners.
  • Qualify opportunities based on technical feasibility, customer credit, contractability, and financing viability.
  • Work with Sales Engineering and Finance to develop Energy-as-a-Service, Power, Thermal Energy Purchase, or Leasing solutions for qualified leads.
  • Coordinate the development and submission of Indicative Proposals and commercial term sheets.
  • Lead the execution and negotiation of Memoranda of Understanding, PPA, and Energy Service Agreements.
  • Manage opportunities, forecasting, and reporting in CRM (Pipedrive).
Qualifications
  • 7 to 12 years of experience in B2B commercial origination, business development, or structured sales roles.
  • Demonstrated experience closing financed, long-term contracted assets (EaaS, PPA, TEPA, ESA, or similar) between $2M and $30M.
  • Strong understanding of energy infrastructure economics, customer credit, and risk allocation.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, finance, and legal teams to close complex transactions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Economics, or a comparable field is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and transaction processes simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills.
  • CRM experience required (Pipedrive, Salesforce, or similar).
Remote/Office Requirements
  • Hybrid (Preference for candidates able to work 2 days/week in Boston office) Or
  • Remote (Preference for fully remote candidates in California)
Compensation

Uncapped commission structure tied directly to originated and closed transactions.

Realistic first-year on-target earnings are expected to range from $200,000–$250,000 based on performance. Salary will be commensurate with experience, and the position comes with a comprehensive benefits package, including performance-based incentives tied to originated and closed transactions.

Full Benefits (Health Insurance, PTO, 401K, etc)
