Job summary

TruthScan seeks a senior-level accountant to independently manage full-cycle finance operations across two SaaS products. You will own accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax preparation and filing from day one, working directly with the CEO and leadership team.

This role covers monthly close, P&L reporting, VAT filings for our international entity, and cash management. Strong US GAAP knowledge and CPA preferred; fully remote with flexible hours and required US overlap.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-cycle accounting or bookkeeping experience with direct AP/AR ownership
• Hands-on experience preparing and filing tax returns
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
• CPA, or actively pursuing CPA, strongly preferred
• Proficiency in Xero; Sage Intacct is a plus
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, complex formulas)
• Excellent written and spoken English, comfortable presenting numbers to leadership

Responsibilities

• Manage vendor bills and payment runs
• Own client invoicing and subscription billing; follow up on collections for past-due accounts
• Maintain AP/AR records; perform weekly bank and credit card reconciliations
• Close books monthly; deliver P&L and net income figures to leadership
• Prepare supporting schedules and variance analysis
• Prepare and file US multi-state sales tax returns; coordinate with external tax preparers
• Support quarterly VAT filings for international entity; maintain audit-ready documentation
• Monitor account balances; execute transfers between operating and reserve accounts
• Identify bottlenecks in financial workflows and propose automation solutions

TruthScan helps organizations combat fraud by identifying AI-generated and digitally edited content. Our core products detect manipulated and synthetic images and PDF documentation. We work across a variety of industry verticals that deal with high volumes of user-submitted images, where AI generation or digital editing is a direct fraud signal, as well as KYC, insurance, and other documentation-heavy businesses, where we serve as a first layer of fraud prevention.

About the Role

We're looking for a senior-level accountant to independently manage full-cycle finance operations across our two SaaS products. This is not a training or shadow role. You will own accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax preparation and filing from day one, working directly with the CEO and leadership team.

Key Responsibilities -Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Manage vendor bills and payment runs
• Own client invoicing and subscription billing, and follow up directly on collections for past-due accounts
• Keep AP/AR records accurate and current
• Perform weekly bank and credit card reconciliations across multiple accounts
• Close the books on a monthly schedule and deliver monthly P&L and net income figures to leadership
• Prepare supporting schedules and variance analysis as requested

Tax Preparation & Filing

• Prepare and file US multi-state sales tax returns
• Calculate and remit federal and state income tax obligations, coordinating with outside tax preparers where needed
• Support quarterly VAT filings for our international entity
• Maintain audit-ready documentation for all filings

Cash & Treasury

• Monitor account balances and execute transfers between operating and reserve accounts
• Flag cash flow issues proactively before they become problems

Process & Tools

• Identify bottlenecks in existing financial workflows and propose automated solutions

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-cycle accounting or bookkeeping experience, including direct ownership of AP and AR, not only support work
• Hands-on experience actually preparing and filing tax returns, not just reconciling or reviewing them
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
• CPA, or actively pursuing CPA, strongly preferred
• Proficiency in Xero required; experience with Sage Intacct is a plus
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, complex formulas)
• Excellent written and spoken English, comfortable presenting numbers directly to leadership

Work Setup

• Core hours are flexible, but daily overlap with US business hours is required for syncs and reporting deadlines
• Occasional early morning or late evening calls with our US-based CEO should be expected
• We use a lightweight time-tracking tool for payroll purposes only
