Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Accountancy required; CPA advantage but not required.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions in the accounting system, including expenses, payroll, and AP.
• Monitor cash balances, AP and cash forecasts for funds availability.
• Prepare weekly and monthly management reports with forecasts.
• Assist external audits, compliance tasks, and document retention.
• Implement controls to protect group assets and prevent fraud.

Job overview:

Provide high quality accounting guidance and support by maintaining the integrity of the Group’s accounting records, including the maintenance of Chart of Accounts, review of general ledger activities and the timely closing of accounting periods.

Key responsibilities:

A. Management

• Assists in monitoring cash balances, accounts payable and cash forecasts, to ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements.
• Ensure superior is aware of issues or developing issues (internal or external) that may impact on the Group’s operations.

B. Reporting

• Initiates the preparation and analysis of Weekly and Monthly Management Reports (MMR) by providing actual costs and commitments, obtaining forecasts and ensuring that these were reported to the correct cost center codes and general ledger codes.

C. Compliance

• Assists with general compliance tasks with regards to external audit, administration, insurance, subscription renewals, etc.

D. Control

• Assists in the implementation of mechanisms and controls to help protect group assets.
• Promotes controls to prevent and detect possible fraudulent activities.
• Ensures delegated financial responsibilities and authorizations are adhered to prior to release of company funds.
• Ensures complete and proper documentation of financial transactions through safekeeping and organization of documents.

E. Transactions

• Posting of financial transactions within the financial accounting system, including but not limited to expenses and cash posting, prepaid assets, fixed assets, accruals, payroll and its analyses.
• Ensures that the accounting records of the companies are accurately updated at all times.
• Ensures that all payments are supported with complete and valid supporting documents such as purchase orders (PO), purchase requests (PR), material requisitions (MR), delivery receipts (DR), etc.
• Updates daily cash position monitoring and reconciliation report.
• Assists in the review of financial transactions every month-end to ensure accurate usage of GL and Cost Codes.
• Assists in updating of major accounting schedules such as intercompany transactions, fixed assets lapsing schedule, pre-payments schedule, including its depreciation and amortization; and land acquisitions schedules.

F. Others

• Coordinates regularly with the Procurement Department to settle queries from suppliers.
• Provides documents and information to auditors during periodic review and audit of financial statements.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives in relation to the ledger processes and systems.
• Filing and safeguarding of accounting documents.
• Other tasks as may be assigned and other related duties relative to the Company’s Project.

Qualifications:

• Holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy
• Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) would be an advantage but not required
• Excellent communication skills, which include both written and oral skills (preferably Spanish speaking)
• With five (5) years of accountancy experience (public or private practice or combined)
• Willing to travel internationally and work collaboratively across global operations to ensure successful project delivery including assignments in Nicaragua
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
• Flexibility and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player.
• Organized with intermediate to advanced applications software expertise (Microsoft Excel and accounting software).
