Job summary

GECO Asia Pte. Ltd seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.

You will contribute to RESTful APIs, cloud-native deployments, and collaboration with bilingual regional teams across Asia Pacific. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of backend experience, strong Java expertise, and proven Spring Boot/microservices capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of professional backend development experience with Java-based enterprise applications.
• Proven experience with Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and cloud-native app development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop and optimize RESTful APIs and backend services for high-performance applications.
• Build cloud-native deployments within Alibaba Cloud (AliCloud).
• Troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis, and improve performance and code quality.
• Collaborate with architects, product teams, DevOps, and regional stakeholders throughout the SDLC.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience in backend development and microservices, with practical experience working with Alibaba Cloud and the ability to collaborate effectively with bilingual regional teams.

Key responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.

Develop and optimize RESTful APIs and backend services to support high-performance and reliable applications.

Design solutions and implement cloud-native applications and deployments within the Alibaba Cloud (AliCloud) environment.

Troubleshoot application issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement performance, reliability, and code quality improvements.

Collaborate with architects, product teams, DevOps engineers, and regional stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.

About you

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum 7 years of professional experience in backend software development, with strong hands-on experience in Java-based enterprise applications.

Proven experience working with Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and cloud-native application development.
