Job summary

Shearwater Health is seeking a Backend Developer to design, build, and optimize high-performance backend applications and microservices powering the customer engagement platform.

The role requires strong Java/Spring Boot expertise, REST API design, and solid SQL with MySQL/PostgreSQL. Experience with MongoDB, cloud environments, and CI/CD is expected. AI/NLP exposure is a plus for future enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field.
• Strong hands-on experience in Java and Spring Boot for backend development and microservices.
• Proficiency in REST API design, integration, and backend architecture.
• Solid SQL skills with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and relational data modeling.
• Experience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases.
• Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and system design (HLD/LLD).
• Proficiency with GitHub and version control best practices.
• Exposure to Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud environments.
• Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization.
• Experience with CI/CD, observability, and cloud-native deployments.
• Experience with Python and React JS.

• Ensures reliable API integrations, secure and scalable backend services, and efficient data processing to support enterprise-grade product experiences

• Contributes to continuous improvement, system performance, and the integration of emerging technologies such as AI/NLP to enhance automation and customer interactions

Required:

• Candidate must possess at least bachelor’s or college degree (Bachelor of Science, Computer Science/Information Technology or any related field)

• Strong hand-on experience in Java and Spring Boot for backend development and microservices

• Proficiency in REST API design, integration, and backend architecture

• Solid SQL skills with experience in MySQL, PostgreSQL, and relational data modeling

• Experience working with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases
