Job summary

ActionLabs IT Services Phils. Corp is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases across on‑premises and Azure environments. The role focuses on performance tuning, high availability, and security governance while coordinating with developers and BI teams.

You will implement backup/restore strategies, support migrations, and leverage IaC tools to improve automation. Strong scripting and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3-5+ years of experience in database administration.
• Proficiency with database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Proficient in SQL scripting, performance tuning, and query optimization.
• Experience implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
• Knowledge of security best practices, including encryption, auditing, and access governance.
• Experience with automation tools (PowerShell, Python, Bash) and IaC tools.
• Experience with data security best practices and tools.
• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Database Administration & Operations across on‑premises and Azure.

• Manage Azure Database services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Database for MySQL/PostgreSQL, and Flexible Server deployments.
• Monitor database performance, tune queries, optimize indexes, and ensure database health and availability.
• Implement and maintain backup/restore strategies, disaster recovery plans, and high‑availability solutions (e.g., Always On, Replication, Failover Groups).
• Perform regular database patching, version upgrades, and security remediation.
• Configure and manage Azure storage, networking, identity, and security features for cloud databases.
• Support database migration and modernization efforts, including lift‑and‑shift, PaaS adoption, and schema/data transformation.
• Utilize Azure-native tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure Backup, Azure Automation, and ARM/Bicep/Terraform templates.
• Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or Bash to streamline database provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.


• Present findings and recommendations to senior management.


• Configure and manage Azure storage, networking, identity, and security features for cloud databases.


• Support database migration and modernization efforts, including lift‑and‑shift, PaaS adoption, and schema/data transformation.


• Utilize Azure-native tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure Backup, Azure Automation, and ARM/Bicep/Terraform templates.


• Implement and enforce best practices for database security, encryption, identity management (Azure AD), and least‑privilege access.


• Conduct regular risk assessments, vulnerability remediation, and compliance checks (e.g., data encryption, auditing, GDPR/PII requirements).


• Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or Bash to streamline database provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance tasks.


• Improve operational processes through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD integration.


• Provide Tier 2/3 support for database‑related issues.


• Collaborate with developers, BI teams, and system administrators to optimize application‑database interactions.


• Document technical procedures, architecture diagrams, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.


• Reporting and Analytics
