Job summary

Manila Recruitment is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to own the architecture and technical direction of a cloud-native data platform on Azure. You will build production-scale pipelines across Bronze to Gold, guiding the team and ensuring reliable delivery to Power BI.

You will set engineering standards, oversee data quality and governance, and drive platform performance and cost optimization while enabling AI-assisted data work. Strong Fabric/Databricks experience is required.

Qualifications

8+ years hands-on data engineering experience building end-to-end data solutions.
2+ years in Lead Data Engineer/Technical Lead or people-management role with hands-on guidance.
Strong understanding of data architecture and modelling, including Medallion Architecture Bronze→Silver→Gold.
Hands-on with Microsoft Fabric; familiarity with Databricks, Snowflake or Synapse.
Proven experience building production-scale data pipelines with ingestion, SQL, incremental loads and PySpark/Python.
End-to-end data engineering experience from ingestion to Power BI reporting.
Experience with data governance, lineage, validation, access control, and CI/CD for data (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).

Responsibilities

Own the data engineering architecture and platform direction across products.
Define patterns for ingestion, transformation, storage layout and workspace structure.
Establish data quality, governance and performance standards.
Lead a small team of data engineers and review their work.
Ensure production pipelines are reliable, scalable and observable.
Guide analysts on semantic modelling, data marts and BI readiness.
Drive cost optimization and operational excellence for the data platform.
