Job summary

Synchrony is seeking an AVP Data Architect to own data sourcing, modeling, governance, and delivery for analytics, dashboards, and AI workloads. You will understand key domains and design scalable data solutions across engineering, governance, and business teams.

You will partner with data engineering, AI Platform, governance, and analytics teams to define standards, operating models, and cost-efficient architectures that enable AI readiness and robust data products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years in data engineering/architecture or analytics platforms.
• Strong cloud data platform experience and leadership in enterprise settings.
• Experience building data pipelines for AI/ML use cases.
• Familiarity with data governance and security policies for AI work.
• Knowledge of AWS services and data lake/warehouse technologies.

Responsibilities

• Define logical/physical data models and govern data for analytics and AI workloads.
• Lead POCs and prototypes for AWS cloud workloads and AI solutions.
• Document data flows and implement data models as physical structures.
• Define Data & AI Foundations architecture to support AI use cases.
• Develop strategy/roadmap to make enterprise data AI-ready with metadata and access patterns.
• Collaborate with source system owners to define data contracts and SLAs.
