Job summary

Axos Financial seeks an Assistant Vice President (AVP) Accounting Manager to direct day-to-day accounting operations, manage month-end closures, and prepare workbooks for regulatory reporting. You will ensure GAAP compliance, supervise staff, and support internal and external audits.

Responsibilities include overseeing regulatory reporting inputs, accounting policies, and the close processes while mentoring a team of 7–12 accounting staff to maintain ledger integrity.

About This Job

An Assistant Vice President (AVP), Accounting Manager at Axos Financial directs day‑to‑day accounting operations, month‑end closures, and prepares workbooks to support regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Direct day‑to‑day accounting operations, month‑end closures, and workbooks for regulatory reporting.
• Ensure GAAP and regulatory compliance, manage internal controls, fulfil SOX, internal and external audit requirements, and supervise accounting staff.
• Oversee preparation of internal financial statements and provide inputs to Call Reports, SEC filings (10‑Q/10‑K), and complex regulatory schedules.
• Assist in executing month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes to ensure accuracy, timely account reconciliations, and overall ledger integrity.
• Execute and monitor accounting operations of Axos Financial and its subsidiaries, producing complete and accurate financial reports in compliance with GAAP.
• Maintain and update a documented system of accounting policies, procedures, and process documents.
• Support timely and accurate completion of call reports, Y9C, and other regulatory inquiries from OCC, Fed, FRB, etc.
• Develop and maintain internal financial controls (e.g., SOX) and act as liaison for SOX and audit testing.
• Review and release specified manual journal entries, analytical reviews, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare or review consolidated statement of cash flows.
• Implement new accounting systems, integrate current systems to reduce manual processes and automate controls.
• Leverage Oracle SmartView and Claude.ai to improve operating efficiencies.
• Assist with special projects and support independent public accounting auditors and internal auditors.
• Prepare and review documentation to support regulator information requests and aid in regulator responses.
• Mentor, train, and manage accounting staff, ensuring departmental objectives are met; manage a team of 7‑12 staff and senior accountants.
