Role Overview
The AutoCAD Drafter is responsible for producing accurate shop drawings and managing the end‑to‑end submittal process for active construction projects. This role requires proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, solid understanding of civil and site plans, and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and general contractors.
This is a production‑driven, deadline‑sensitive role that plays a critical part in securing project approvals and maintaining execution timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed shop drawings for fencing systems, including:
- Fence layouts (plan view)
- Elevations and sections
- Gate systems (swing, cantilever, rolling)
- Post spacing and footing details
- Interpret civil/site plans, architectural drawings, and project specifications.
- Ensure drawings align with project requirements, field conditions, and constructability standards.
Submittal Management
- Prepare and compile complete submittal packages, including:
- Shop drawings
- Product data
- Material specifications
- Submit documents through general contractor platforms (e.g., Procore) or via email.
- Track submittal status and incorporate revisions accurately.
Civil & Coordination Requirements
- Read and interpret grading plans, property lines, and layout control points.
- Coordinate fence alignment with site boundaries, access points, and other trades.
- Ensure layouts reflect correct elevations, clearances, and gate functionality.
Communication & Support
- Collaborate with Project Managers, estimators, and suppliers.
- Clarify scope discrepancies and support RFI development when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Proficient in AutoCAD (2D drafting) and Revit.
- Ability to produce plan, elevation, and section drawings.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and civil/site plans.
- At least 3+ years of experience in shop drawings, drafting, or detailing.
- Experience with construction submittals.
- Exposure to U.S.-based projects is an advantage.
- Detail‑oriented and highly organized.
- Strong written English communication skills.
- Self‑directed with the ability to manage deadlines independently.
Performance Expectations (KPIs)
- Shop drawing turnaround time within 24–72 hours.
- High approval rate with minimal revisions.
- Consistent on‑time delivery.
